Let the record stand the witnesses answered in the affirmative. Ms. Ladybug, Mr. Noir, you may have a seat. I would like to go over a summary of today’s testimony. There will be no counsel questions, and we will move to member questions. Be advised I will take any action necessary to maintain order, House Rules and the provisions of Resolution 596. We will begin with opening statements from the Chair, followed by the Ranking Member. The witnesses may issue statements of their own if they so please.
The Chairman began his spiel, warning about the dangers of superheroes, and how everyone coming forward corroborated the events that transpired. The other man seemed to have the same message, but a more disparaging tone upon the President.
The Chair Recognizes the Parisian for her opening statement.
“Thank you. It is an honor to be here in the United States, and presenting my story before you to aid in bringing justice to this matter. On a summer evening, my partner and I were whisked away from France, with not even the clothes on our backs to help fight a mysterious new monster that had arrived in New York City. This was the result of an akuma, created by the Butterfly Miraculous in possession by a villain in France.”
“The President revealed her identity to us and came up with a plan in which she would possibly destroy at least half of the United States. She then told me such a plan would be ok because my power can undo a lot of damage, but I had no experience just wiping away a mess that wasn’t directly caused by us or the akumas. While being referred to as the cleaning lady by the President, she went on with her plan anyways. The United States was spared because I defied what I believed to be unlawful and dangerous orders. However, I realize this was not a big deal as I have not sworn and do not owe allegiance to the United States.”
“I look forward to your questions. Thank you.”
