Another example of what pisses me off so much about Pillowfort’s interface. There’s a point at which the feed slides under the control panel. 

Yes, you can collapse it, but when you navigate to other pages it pops back open. The solution could be as simple as rolling it all up into a slim bar affixed to the header. In fact, that would be way more in line with their insistence they were inspired by Live Journal. 

Additionally, the “notifs” button is given such extremely low priority it’s easy to overlook. Reduce “logged in as” to an icon for a drop down men, put other stuff like followers, settings, etc under there. Then you can add the chat bubble icon to the left, making it WAY more visible and you actually end up taking up LESS space. Enough to add a plus symbol or something for “make a new post.”

All of those bar menus could easily be aligned horizontally instead of vertically, taking up less space. 

Finally, change the shade of blue for the text if you want to keep that dark gray background. It’s extremely poor contrast, especially for the text. Which is extremely bad for accessibility and people with low vision.
