He's kept the first one she gave him. It's chipped, but otherwise pristine. He uses it when he needs a pick-me-up, which is why it carries a whiff of alcohol with it, but he's always careful to hand-wash it after. It's precious to him.

It was the first gift any of his kids ever gave him. And he knows that the slogan on the side is an exaggeration, but still, that she would see it and think of him... It meant the world.

And now he has two. He pulled the mug out of the gift box she'd presented him, turning it around to catch the light. The words, printed in bold comic sans, make him smile. 'Dad'. He's still not used to that, but it's gonna keep his spirits high for the rest of the week.

He's dad.

He pulls her in with one arm, keeping the other hand occupied with the mug as he embraces her.
