The finest silk fibers, and most of what we use today, are produced by “cultivated” silkworms grown in a controlled environment. The worms are fed a diet of mulberry leaves and increase their body size 10,000 times in their short life span. Once the cocoon is spun and before the worm hatches through the silk into a moth, the cocoon is soaked in hot water then unraveled, producing filaments that can be up to a mile long in size.

// UNNATI SILKS // . . The best possible recognizable way for me to drape a saree was the nivi style. In this Saree is wrapped around the waist with creating pleats and as per your comfort, the pleats can be big or small. Gather pleats and tuck them into your waistband and then draped over the shoulder. As my saree is a cotton saree the saree was ironed well and then small pleats were made and placed properly in pleats as well as the pallu. For the blouse, I went ahead with a basic black full sleeves tee to add a bit of western touch. I kept my hair sleek in a center partition with loads of jewelry pieces to add a touch of glam from jhumkas to heavy traditional rings and bangles. . .
