I love your au, and I was wondering: will you guys get more into detail about the whole “Tracer was kidnapped by Widowmaker to attract Morrison’s clan attention” story? Like, when, how and what are the consequences in the grand scheme of things? Will Gabriel get his revenge on Jack?” And Widowtracer? And Jesse? And Hanzo? omg i need answers pls
We did! Well, more or less! https://martiverse.wixsite.com/owshapeshifterau/main-story Here we wrote all we know about the story

I'm not sure if you are asking for advice or not. But if so, I would suggest picking a method that brings the more joy during the process of writing. If you usually write with spontaneity, but the process is tiring, maybe there is a need for a more planned, procedural approach. Independently of the methodology, I would definitely recommend having a theme, which will guide the narrative of the story. I hope you'll have a great time creating the story! You can do it!
I’ve been wanting to respond to this all day but I’m lazy, cramping, and didn’t feel like getting my personal laptop lol.
TL;DR - I have a lot of issues with my own writing that need to be addressed.
this was more of me just publicly musing, but the advice is still appreciated. my writing issues basically boil down to the following things that I’ve noticed even as recently as the past couple months:
Little to no confidence. Do I like my writing most days after writing? Yes. But every time I type something out, it feels like shit that should never get published or see the light of day. I get it. It’s a first draft, it can be edited to hell and polished, blah blah. I totally get it. But even knowing that fact doesn’t make me feel any less bad due my own perceived quality of my writing
I want to try new things. I’ve discussed some time ago that I wanted to try going in a slightly more narrative direction with my fics. I will never be done writing smut, but I do want to add some meat to my stories because I feel like I have some good ideas worth writing. and I ofc want to share those ideas with others. I got turned off of narrative fics a long time ago because I felt my ideas were lame or bad, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized how much time I spend in my own head just making stories and headcanons up. and I want to share that shit! unfortunately...
In addition to point 1, my attention span regarding writing flits from one idea to the next in the span of like...a month? sometimes more, sometimes less. this is due to a few reasons:
lack of confidence - I don’t even trust myself to be capable enough to write the ideas I have and thought of.
difficulty - in tandem with above, when something gets hard, sometimes I do just shrivel into myself and quit. this is bad and I know it. I do this a lot with fics. I have a LOT of unfinished shit
I have too many interests. this isn’t an excuse, it’s a reality. but I do sometimes use this as an excuse because I hit that stage of things getting difficult. starting to see some patterns here?
I don’t find a huge interest in reading anymore. This is actually unfortunate and completely my fault. I wasn’t a bookworm or anything back in school but I read way more back then. I just don’t have the same interest nowadays as I would rather game or code :\
I’ve been this way my entire life, but have only recently learned that I am a discovery writer (pantser). I have never explicitly planned any of my writing projects down to the letter as they’ve mostly been one-shots or multi-part one-shots (e.g. Bonding). But my stories have never really had any significant plots either so there was no need? Now that I’m trying to do more narrative stuff, I’m finding it at least helpful to write something down, like overarching plot, major event, and characters involved. I started doing this around the second or third fic in the Wolves Hunt Together series that I’m still not done with. With my attention span, I feel like I get too excited to add x cool plot point or y drama point that I forget to address potential inconsistencies and plot holes with the lore and worldbuilding that I established and set up. which leads me to getting stressed out and frustrated because it’s hard and not wanting to physically continue the fic/series but at that point I feel like it’s bad and someone will point out every single inconsistency and flaw and tell me I’m actually shit at writing.
I have absolutely no problem writing a 500 word smut fic because I like doing those and people like reading those. I have no interest in being some world class, best-selling author where millions of people like my work. I like writing as a hobby, sure, but I also wanna be at least....not shit at it??? I take pride in being at least half decent at whatever I’m doing, whether it’s coding or Monster Hunter lol
I’d be lying if I said I only 100% wrote everything for myself. everything I write, I do enjoy (otherwise I wouldn’t write it), but I also like to put my shit out there because at least someone else on the planet might enjoy it. if no one does, then well fuck it, I liked it and maybe some time in the future someone will come along and have the same level of joy reading my work as I did writing it.
anyway sorry this was long and unnecessary. I have issues I need to address and I feel like once I do, I’ll become more comfortable creeping out of my comfort zone to actually get writing done.
unnameddoc replied to your post “I was thinking of giving myself some sort of art challenge to improve,...”
Yes please show us art!!! Idk, what about some Horizon Zero Dawn kinda stuff? Like a nice mix of futuristic and stuff from ancient times?
Hm, that is an interesting idea! i could use that as one of the challenges. Thank you for the suggestion!
[I am SO HAPPY WITH HOW THIS TURNED OUT.
It’s a vampire GLaDOS based off @unnameddoc‘s Vampire/Vampire Hunter AU and the writing that @ask-glados-queen-of-aperture did for it. I also used an outfit from Bloodborne.]
