“Glory in death is life Eternal!”
- miniature by Picster
Routine...
Out in the wasteland, people struggled to survive. Some remain kind to their fellowman while others took a more dark and twisted approached and showed no mercy. Near the Grand River the two armies that started the atomic wars remain at constant war with each other, tearing the wasteland apart with every encounter.A small settlement was created that rested in the middle of the two armies. This settlement consisted of three people.About a quarter of a mile away from the settlement laid an airplane in ruins. During the beginning of the atomic war it fell from the sky and crashed. Now its a meeting ground for local traders and scavengers.
From the horizon a small group is seen approaching the airplane. The group consisted of two men and one woman. The men stood in front while the woman walked behind them. She was pushing a shopping cart. The man on the left sported armor made from sheet metal and road signs. The armor covered his whole body and shock with every step he took. Strapped to his back was a large hammer welding together from a steel beam and barbwire. The man on the right wore a large duster with thick metal plates underneath in varies places. Upon his head he wore a green military hat. At his hip was a black revolver and across his chest was a long ammo belt packed with bullets on top of a collard shirt.
The woman in the back wore a torn shirt and pants. Across her chest was a belt with several explosives strapped to it. Upon her head she had a rested singed bandanna and her eyes were covered by red lenses goggles. Tied to her back was an assault rifle and strapped to her left thigh was an extra magazine. A knife could be seen rested on the backside of her left boot.
As the group approached the market stalls, the locals were drawn to their presence.
"Greetings friends. I am Sir Steele and I've come to trade with you fine ladies and gentlemen." The man covered in armor said. The locals looked confused and began to murmur with each other. Most of them were wrapped in cloth rags and strips of leather.
"I can assure you, though we look like raiders, we are just well armed for our protection. We mean you know harm." Sir Steele said as he took off his helmet revealing his warm and friendly face. It was his smile that made the locals liked him. They were still cautious of the others though, since none of them have spoken. A single old woman approached Sir Steele. "Tell me young man, what of your friends over there?" The old lady asked in a soft voice.
"Have no fear miss, my friends mean you all no harm. We just have some items of interest that we wish to trade for food and supplies and if the need arise I can assure you they will protect you as well." Sir Steele said. The old lady returned with a smile to Sir Steele and his friends. A few venders approached Sir Steele but Sir Steele held up his hand.
"Please talk to my associate over here. He is the one who handles the business." Sir Steele said as he pointed towards the man in the back. The man proceeded to reach inside the shopping cart and pull out a clipboard with paper on it. On the paper were a list of items of interest. One by one the venders would approach the man cautiously and made a trade. The cold stare from the man and the smoothness of his voice along with a colorful choice of words was enough to get a deal out of everybody who approached him. It was too easy. One vender decided to approach the shopping cart from the side where the woman stood. In an instant he froze in his tracks. The shine of a blade near his throat sparkled in the sunlight.
"Please form a line in front of the cart. Thank you." The woman said as she pulled back the knife. The man was startled by not only the blade but the woman. It was not only her smile that threw the man off but also her voice. It sounded off. The man scurried in front of the cart with panic in his eyes. The rest of the deals went off without any other problems. As the evening wore on the small group collected themselves and made their way back to their settlement.
As they approached their settlement they came across a corpus that was rip to shreds. The two men stopped and turned to the woman who at this point was giggling to herself.
"Cherry....did you remember to put the sign up that warned people of the minefield?" The man in the duster said. Cherry stopped giggling for a moment but then proceeded to giggle uncontrollably. The two men looked at each other and said nothing. This wasn't uncommon for Cherry. She wired the entire area with explosives. It was her gift, her passion. Putting up a sign warning people would make the nights less interesting.
"Roxxy go get the sign that probably still in the warehouse and put it up." Sir Steele said to Roxxy. Roxxy let out a sigh as he turned towards Cherry for a moment and walked off. Sir Steele then turned to Cherry who at this point ceased laughing but still was smiling. Sir Steele said nothing but let out a sigh. He walked over to Cherry and placed his hand on the cart.
"I'll go take the stuff inside, you rewire the trap." Sir Steele said. Cherry's eye lit up like a firecracker and the smile on her face grew. "Righty-O Joe!" Cherry said with glee. She hoped over to the dead body and carefully picked it up and tossed it to the side as if it were garbage and proceed to take one of the explosives off her belt and bury it in the ground with new wires and pressure sensitive triggers. It was not long before Roxxy came back out to Cherry with the sign she made. It was a large piece of sheet metal with the words "Danger...or whatever...Minefield" painted in  purple large unfriendly letters.
Roxxy dropped the sign in front of Cherry. "Here. You put it up." Roxxy said in a monotone voice. His cold glare would normally pierce the heart of commoners but not to to any of his roommates. Cherry Smiled. She knew she wasn't going to win this one. She never had, even with debating philosophy or history she would always end up getting caught in her own words. Roxxy was particularly good at that. Didn't matter what the subject was, he was sly with his choice of words. She walked over and set up the sign, using the dead body for support, the sign shinned in the sunlight. The two walked back to the settlement.
Nothing new, just the normal routine.
Pressing the keys of the piano seemed to bring back a lot of memories from my childhood. I somehow managed to bring each key into a somber melody that I used to play as a child, Chopin's prelude op 28 no 15, in D flat major just as I was taught many years ago, though in reality it wasn't that long ago, I guess. It had seemed that way atleast. My father insisted that I learned to play something, and so, growing up around pianos laying around the castle - it was pretty much a given that I wanted to learn how to play the towering beasts. I remember sitting at a piano for the first time, it seemed like a massive building compared to how little I was. As I closed my eyes, I pressed myself into my fingers with each of the keys. The song came out of my hands like trickling water as it was nearly stained into my memory. I opened my eyes and continued to play, turning my head to notice Cedric staring at me as he sat on a blanket surrounded in toys that he currently wasn't very interested in, he too had been enjoying the sound of the piano and I can't say I blame him. Cedric crawled closer, grabbing the bench of the piano as he pulled himself to stand on his wobbly legs, watching the keys with his mixed eyes, very intrigued by everything as I continued to play. He could see two different worlds through his eyes, I was jealous. He could see both demon sight and human sight, though it's probably severely flawed. Though it made me smile that he was genuinely curious, and it was the sweetest thing. He would lift his hand to try and touch a key, but pulled back out of fear. I stopped playing to reach over and press down on a key near him. As the sound struck, his mouth dropped open in amusement, followed by a small giggle. I lifted Cedric to sit on my lap, allowing him to see more of the piano and press any key he'd like, it was fascinating to see the wonderment in his face. I suddenly heard shouting from a few rooms down, the cabin was a moderate size and nothing like the castle where someone could have a conversation and not a lot of people would overhear it. But shouting? Why? I prolonged the notes to listen, though I kept my attention at the piano and Cedric so he wouldn't notice. The people shouting were my father and his partner, Felis. They hadn't been getting along since Cedric's birth, and it really bothered me. Sure, I didn't like the guy very much. But I would have hoped he would be around more often, as he's obligated to pretty much. My father doesn't deserve to be a single parent again, nor does Cedric deserve to grow up like I did. "You're a right cunt, FrankfĂĽrt. You know that?" My fathers partner yelled with his typical slurred words mixed with his accent. "Have some more fucking whiskey why don't you?" My father retorted back, "I'm so sick and tired of you drinking, staying out all night, the smoking, and especially around the children. Cedric smelled like he came home from a bar, and he's only two. You need to go to reha-" A bottle smashed against the marble floor. "I don't need shit." Felis' voice was stern and unbreakable, "I need you to get off my fuckin back for once." A stool screeched across the floor, glass shards were being crushed under a boot. "Just fucking leave." My father sounded scarily serious. "Get your fucking shit, and get the fuck out of my house. You're not welcome here when you're drinking out of a bottle like its life support. It's bad enough Vyvyan grew up seeing you like this, I refuse to have our son see you as the raging alcoholic you are." There was silence for a while, Cedric became a little fussy as I had stopped playing - completely submerged in the argument. I pressed a key or two and let him be amused again. I heard his partner's footsteps clack down the hallway, soon to be followed by my fathers. "And another thing," my father continued, he really liked to push people's buttons, it's probably where I got it from. "I know you're fucking around behind my back, because you're oh so fucking miserable here. I've given you everything, picked you out of your pathetic little slums and you can't have the decency to keep it in your fucking pants." "I didn't do shit." He spat back, "For the love of God, FrankfĂĽrt I'm telling you it wasn't like that I - I can't - I can't be bothered with this." Felis opened the closet door with a creak, I sat Cedric down by the peddles which thankfully he was amused with, times like this I was happy that he could occupy himself with the simplest of things. I quietly walked my way out to be hallway and hid behind a pillar, watching the two in the foyer. His partner grabbed the doorknob of the front door and stopped in his tracks as my father continued to yell at him, "It's not like that? It's not like, what? You seem to forget that everybody here knows who you are, who your with, what you're doing. You made me an idiot in the tabloids. How the fuck am I supposed to run a country and be a respected King when you're out there putting your dick in bar sluts?" "Fuck off with that." He shouted back over his shoulder pushing himself through the open door. "You can fucking take this and sell it, you'll get something good from it, then you can get a plane away from here because I never want to see your face again, don't worry about me, don't worry about Vyvyan, and especially don't worry about Cedric. You ungrateful bastard!" My father took off his wedding ring and threw it at the door as it closed behind Felis, taking a huge chip from the cherry wood sending it flying. I watched as my father slid himself down against a wall, clutching his chest as he laid his head on his knees, silently weeping. My father has had two failed Marriages now. I can't understand what kind of pain he's going through, and quite frankly it made me a little nervous about marrying Derrick. I stood behind the column and continued to watch him. He wiped his forehead against his arm and ran his fingers through his short black hair, shaking his head. He looked way too proper to be sitting on the floor, but I understood. I quickly turned and headed back to the room, grabbing Cedric and holding him on my hip as I walked into the foyer and pretended as if I didn't witness everything. "What happened?" I softly asked my father, stepping closer to him. He shook his head and he gestured for me to come closer. I kneeled down and handed him Cedric, who was more than happy to cling to my fathers neck. I crouched down and sat cross legged Infront of him. My father abruptly pulled me closer, and I laid my head on his opposite shoulder as he just held Cedric and I close to him. He swallowed, his voice still hoarse and full of anguish. "You boys are all I need." He mumbled, squeezing us both.
I just found a song for my NaNoWriMo ship
Justus/Lucy vs Duncan/Lucy
A song for Justus/Lucy (Juicy? Lustus? they sound so sexual...) is Heartbeat by Scouting for Girls
I wish I could draw the two of them and make video for it....urgh why can't I be an artist...
----
Justus raised a fist. "Accidenti, Luce, when are you going to stop being such a pain in the ass?"
She looked rightly offended, and tugged her cap's bill like she did when she was irritated. "I'm the pain in the ass? You're the one getting mad over nothing! You're not my father, Justus, you can't tell me what to do!"
The Italian grabbed her shoulders. "I know I'm not your father!" he yelled, looking in her eyes. "I don't want to be like your father! That man's a raging madman, and I just want you safe!"
Lucy didn't struggle against his grip. "He's not a madman," she countered, "he's just confused."
"He's been screwing with your mind for fourteen years, Luce. he's a nutjob."
She didn't respond, and Justus' nerves went bonkers in the silence. His hands began to shake, because he was touching her and their faces were literally inches apart. He could count her every freckle, see the annoyed glint in her eye...he could even smell the breakfast on her breath.
None of that should've been even remotely attractive, yet Justus found himself holding his breath.
"I'm sorry," he blurted out suddenly. He let go over her, and the buzzing feeling in his stomach died.Â
He didn't elaborate on what he was apologizing for-- not that he needed to. Lucy grabbed his collar and, wordlessly, yanked their faces together.
The kiss lasted only a second, leaving Justus' lips tingling and wanting more. She let go of him and he stumbled backwards, grabbing his lips and gaping at her.
"Don't tell Duncan," she warned him.Â
"Managgia," Justus responded. A lopsided grin took over his face as his heartbeat went wild.

Don't know if that's cannon yet. Maybe. Possibly. When the adventure part takes off and they have to fight robots.
It makes sense in context
