Page 24. ---- Fowl Disappearing by Hundreds in Unionville Area, Council Learns ---- THIEVES USE TRUCK ---- Unionville, Oct. 2. -Besieged with complaints of an epidemic of chicken thieving in the Unionville area during recent weeks, Mark-ham township council yesterday offered $50 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the guilty parties.

More than 500 chickens have been reported stolen. In three cases 100 or more have been taken at one time. A. L. Brown, Unionville, whose premises are guarded by a police dog, lost 100, council was told.

Thieves which visited the farm of J. C. Chapman, fifth concession, were said to have taken 150 fowl. James Muirhead, Hagerman, lost more than 100, council was told.

Although comparatively little is known about the thieves, it is understood that they drive a light truck and park it on a side road.
