On this Labor Day weekend, I invite each and every one of you to join a union.
It's for your own protection.
No matter what your job, no matter where you live, you will also be better protected in a union. Always. Employers don't care about individuals; a single person is easy to replace. When a union asks for something, it's harder to ignore because they are a bigger voice. Your union can support you in ways you cannot feasibly support yourself. You need a lawyer? Your union can arrange that. That's why you pay your dues. You think your employer isn't treating you right? Your union knows all the ins and outs of what your employer is allowed to do, and they can help you fight for what you're entitled to. You will always be safer in a union. Especially if you are a teacher.
