For my first (degree-level) assignment I have to talk about my communicative repertoire but the concept is still confusing me a little. From what I can gather, it's a combination of the different 'resources' you use when communicating - so not just spoken language but things like body language, tone of voice, using objects as props (such as a multilingual sign or a poster with pictures on)… But I'm having trouble thinking up what makes up my own communicative repertoire.
Language is the obvious one, as I speak and write in English to most people I come across and am able to understand limited amounts in Welsh and Polish. I gesticulate a lot with my mum - the only person I'm actually comfortable around - but with everyone else I tend to be still and quiet but fairly facially expressive (as that's easier on my anxiety).
What else to write about?! Especially regarding how my CR pertains to my 'identity'. Something could be said about my anxiety/disabled status (see previous paragraph), but other than that I'm at a loss.
*Googles 'linguistics what is a communicative repertoire' * I'll be back with an update shortly…
