SO i personally consider 1 to be transfeminine, mainly due to well. gestures to all of her. no i’ll be serious. some thoughts that immediately come to mind that aren’t obvious (i.e. her history of crossdressing) include 1’s mask making her look like a (specifically) porcelain doll during mfkr & early s/t and how much that choice to feminize herself in comparison to everyone else in the band seemed so important — it was then paired with the crossdressing and started extending more into the ‘character’ that 1 was onstage. there’s no question that 1 is regularly “mistaken for a girl” by people who don’t know who slipknot is, 1 CHOSE the mask, though. it was purposeful… also i’m just gonna quote my husband here “Basically Everytime I See A Picture Of Joey In Girl Clothes It’s A New Outfit Not Really Ever Any Repeats But When She’s Wearing Boy Clothes It’s Always The Same 4 XXL T-Shirts In Rotation And A Dysphoria Hoodie” …. 1 just seemed more comfortable / herself imo when she was presenting as a girl and she obviously enjoyed doing it, why else would you do it so often? … i think 1 is prob the one i feel most strongly about, i’m not personally a fan of most transmasc/FTM interps of 1 but i’m always open to being convinced. in my general rpf world that they all exist in, 1 got the courage to transition when she realized her feelings of knowing she was a girl weren’t going away. 1 is very sure of herself and she’s also STUBBORN. she’s not someone who’s willing to quit because something is hard — and transitioning in the middle of buttfuck nowhere, iowa is not easy to say the least. i think ofc she was scared, it’s hard not to be when you’re laying your soul bare and seemingly willingly painting a target on your back, but i think 1 also knew that if she didn’t come out and start living as herself, she’d end up dead. And she’s SOOOO herself. i think 1 is unapologetically herself and it’s refreshing amidst all the people walking around just void of a personality

this is the perfect segue into talking about 8. i also view 8 as leaning more towards transfeminine. that being said, i also think 8 is deeply troubled and mentally ill and those things are unfortunately tied up in gender (spoiler alert everything is tied up in gender whether you like it or not) … 8 absolutely simultaneously resents and idolizes 1 for being so loudly herself. like, he can’t fully explain it, but there’s this pit in his stomach sometimes when he sees 1 showing off with 2 or laughing with 0 or even just smiling gently back at him because she’s just so… free. it’s something 8 assumes is unattainable for himself. i think 8’s desire to be viewed as feminine or experience femininity is one that he also conflates with wanting to feel like/be treated as a victim. i think there are times 8 outright rejects anything feminine because he doesn’t want to be ‘asking for it’ - during these bouts he’s incredibly dysphoric but doesn’t have the language for it necessarily. i think he also does a great job of pushing 1 away, despite knowing if anyone would understand it would probably be her. i have a LOT of thoughts about 8 being perpetually sort of closeted / boymoding (at least in rpf world, i would never wish that upon anyone irl) because i think it’s unfortunately closest to what would happen if any of this was real. last thought is: i’ve been using he/him for 8 because while i think E would save him, he refuses to acknowledge it and aggressively at times says he’s male not because he wants to be but because he sees himself as unable to escape being male. (i also use he/it/she for 8 sometimes even when she’s a woman cuz i believe he’d ID as butch and would be weird about its gender no matter what.) that being said, i think 8 experiences gender euphoria when he’s creating and i mean… obvious answer here is he experiences euphoria when he wears the mask. i think especially the early s/t mask that was a crash test dummy mask was also a big source of euphoria for him for a lot of reasons, including being viewed as/becoming an object (and one made to be hurt over and over again at that). i pretty much fw transmasc/FTM 8 exclusively in AUs made just for porn or AUs where (basically) everyone else is a girl and 8 is trying to act like the closet isnt made of glass.

as for the other members: i think transfem 5 and transfem 3 are really fun ideas as well but i haven’t fleshed them out fully. same sentiment for FTM 2. smiles serenely thjnking about the t4t 1/2 possibilities. the member i view as cishet no matter what is 7. i think even in mfkr & s/t era he was bordering on being actually homophobic like.. more than jsut typical 1990’s run of the mill homophobia lol but we love him anyways.

i feel like 0 should have his own section here. 0 could be either transmasc or transfem to me i think both interps could be very very fun but i do personally see him as the type who Maybe identifies as nonbinary but is in a band rn so really doesn’t have time to be thinking about gender shit. in my gen slipknot rpf world 0 is functionally a cis dude in society but hes like a funky cis dude yknow

i could probably double the length of this answer if i got into 6. tbh i don’t interp 6 as trans, i view him as cis and specifically i think he’s a chaser. i think chasers have a really interesting view of themselves in some ways, thinking of themself as a “part” of our communities simply for wanting to fuck us or our other trans siblings. i think 6 is guilty of this too, especially paired with his voyeurism and his own self-confessed ‘imposter syndrome’. … idk i could go on but i think while this isn’t a “trans” thing it’s connected and i like talking about this characterization of 6 cuz i haven’t seen it around a lot

i mean i’m just gonna be straight up and say corey’s a cutter in this. it’s very based on my own experiences, so if i’m a bit blunt or don’t know how to phrase it that’s why. i think it’s also been inspired by the fact that there are a lot of slipknot’s lyrics where it’s about self harm, the most damning to me is in metabolic “i am absolutely controlling every urge to mutilate the one and only answer” (corey being the answer)

corey started self harming in this AU not because of shawn but because he was struggling with his mental health. it just got worse when the abuse started.

i think corey is also a masochist, so the self harm has also become a source of fascination, fixation, and arousal, as well as shame and inner hatred

after a certain point i do think he self harms more out of obligation - trying to feel something
