@unforestalledreturn asked:
"Say..." A voice venomously purred from above. "Do you believe in ghosts? If not, it might be time to."
"Please come down from the rafters...you're dropping mud all over my desk." Honestly, whatever they saw in SOLDIERS must be something truly special. An eccentric lot if he ever knew one.

[Anti-Honesty Meme]
"Did I make you blush or is the alcohol finally getting to you?" He jeered playfully, tapping the tip of Sephiroth's nose. (-expansive shrugging- hihellohowyadoin)
Anti-honesty hour meme | accepting but eternally slow
Sephiroth almost, almost, leaned just the slightest bit forward to bite that offending finger, which he supposed might have made his answer a great deal more believable. SOLDIER metabolism could be woefully swift, after all. (Sadly his restraint in not biting that finger showed enough.)
"The alcohol." He tried. Unconvincing, maybe, but he would stand firm on that. And perhaps take another, longer drink.
Like so many other Thirds, he seemed to have peaked shortly after surviving mako treatment. Unremarkable in stats- Strength and endurance above average. No magical affinity nor aptitude. Mental fortitude, acuity, and resourcefulness so-so. Main skills (if any) seemed to be observation and adaptation, mainly situational improvisation. Had a decent enough appearance that he could manage to be seductive, slightly above average.
All in all, âslightly above averageâ was the club he wielded over even weaker recruits. He was a bully and a coward, an opportunist. Yet his unremarkable qualities were what made him so dangerous- He was virtually indistinguishable from any other ânormalâ person working for Shinra, aside from being part of the SOLDIER program.
By far, he was the easiest to pin down in terms of habits, schedule, and pattern. Approaching Tanne during on-duty hours wouldnât be impossible, but Jae-hyo wanted to deal with the Third alone, without his entourage of sycophants.
He wasnât sure how long the abuse had been going on, but it was safe to say that Scaevola was a repeat offender. He liked being in control for all the wrong reasons, used his physical strength and imposing figure to lord over others and quash any hopes of retaliation. The type to apologize and gaslight in the same breath, truly and utterly without remorse or self-awareness.
There wasnât a type based off of appearances alone, but he did target those who appeared the most vulnerable. Shy singles alone at the bar, pretty faces built on artifice masking non-existent self-confidence. Binge drinkers especially were Scaevolaâs favorite flavor, swooping in to play the concerned bystander, the Nice Guy. Luring barely conscious young clubbers into taxis or down barely used alleys to get his ârewardâ for his apparent chivalry.
All it took was some hair spray, heavier make up, and a change in wardrobe to become more appealing to his prey, but the performance had to be flawless.
Paying off the bar keep ahead of time, Jae nursed a handful of watered down cocktails as the night progressed- making sure that the number of emptied glasses were clearly visible. He made sure his body language was more confident, if loose-limbed and clumsy, flirting and dancing with a bevy of strangers. All it took was an âaccidentalâ trip into Tanneâs arms and the trap was set.
The Turk leaned heavily against the Thirdâs side, affectionate and uncoordinated. Scaevola wasted very little time taking him back to his apartment, pouring yet another drink to ply his inhibitions. Straddling the larger manâs lap, letting Tanne slobber all over him like a dog was a small price to pay for what he had planned as the payoff.
He jams a syringe into the side of Tanneâs neck and shoves the plunger down before heâs shoved off, as the Turk already at a disadvantage against a mako-roided SOLDIER who could probably take a hit from an oncoming train. After that, it was simply evade an enraged Third Class until his little cocktail of drugs kicked in.
âWhatâs wrong, I thought you liked slapping pretty boys around-â Jae purrs, driving his elbow into the blondeâs gut, before slamming his heel straight up into his lower jaw.Â
He picks up a marble ashtray off of the coffee table, quite enjoying itâs heft as he swings it and connects with the side of Scaevolaâs forehead. Head injuries bled a hell of a lot, which was enough of a spectacle to make the larger man begin to question if he wanted to fight back.
Lowering himself, Scaevola attempts to shoulder tackle Jae-hyo down, only to receive a swift knee to the groin. That makes him fall over and hurl up a mixture of beer and bar food across the hardwood floors, hands between his legs in abject pain.
Jae lifts a leg and slams all of his weight down against one of Tanneâs kneecaps, relishing in the crunching sound it makes.
âHow fast do Thirds heal again? Missing some teeth, fingers, and toes youâd be able to survive, but...â he trails off, pulling a chefâs knife out of a wooden block in the manâs kitchen.
âUnless youâve got some Cleansing materia on hand, I doubt youâll be surviving the night. Thatâs a pretty potent neurotoxin I just shot you up with, but it does take a few hours to really run itâs entire course through your system. You should be feeling a kind of buzzing sensation in your fingers and toes, spreading through your arms and legs. Like effervescent tablets in a glass of water, nice and bubbly.â
He squats down on his heels next to Scaevola and slaps him in the face a few times, looking only slightly annoyed by how easily heâs giving up.Â
âGuys like you are all the same-Youâre all about power. Granted, it makes sense, but as soon as someone stronger than you shows up, you just fucking fold. You didnât fear me when you thought I was some weak-ass little twink, but now you respect me... because Iâm a threat.â
Tap-tap-tapping the flat of the blade against a burly shoulder, he yawns in a tired fashion.Â
âThis isnât how I expected things to go. Iâm really just kind of disappointed.â
There used to be a time where things in Shinra were a little easier. The city was still building; the companyâs influence yet to reach its massive global expansion; departments were smaller.
It was the days of dawn for the SOLDIER program. No such thing as âclassesâ. There was the Shinra Public Security Forces, and there was SOLDIER.
At least officially.
But the truth was a little different.
There was the Shinra PSF, and there was SOLDIER... and there was Sephiroth.
A boy who in his own right stood as a force to be reckoned. Despite his young age, he had been a SOLDIER before his name would even reach the ears outside of the company, and in record time it had spread like wildfire.
The conqueror of Wutai, the young promise and flagship of the SOLDIER program, Sephiroth. The rumors of his exploits in battle exceeded the wildest fantasies; they captured hearts and inspired, luring young men under the companyâs flag in droves.
And still, so little was known about him. Always out on the battlefield, the boy seldom accompanied other units or fellow SOLDIERs; he was rumored to prefer acting on his own, rather than in a team. And as far as his performance reports went, he was pefectly capable to do so.
Because of this reason, his looks and personality were shrouded in mystery to most, and subject of speculation amongst the wide-eyed new recruits in the companyâs personal military force.
Lately, however, a new rumor was circulating, that Sephiroth could be seen in one particular training room at the 49th floor. A new product of Shinraâs latest technology, in which through the use of special VR visors, one could immerse himself in a completely virtual environment and simulate battle without risk.
Apparently, according to these rumors, the room, still a prototype, had gone haywire after a simulation including Sephiroth had been installed. The program had frozen and become impossible to reboot, no matter how many times the power had been restarted, it always returned to the same simulation.
Perhaps through a process of âwutai whispersâ, speculation was that the key to unstuck the program was to face the simulation and defeat Sephiroth within it, but nobody had achieved to do so. Maybe the techs were waiting for the real deal to return from his current mission so that he, himself, could solve the problem.
But many were tempted, if only in daydreaming and masculine locker room talk, to try and sneak up there and try. If one succeeded to knock the SOLDIER helmet out of his face, what would Sephiroth look like? How strong could this simulated warrior really be?
Well.. the 49th floor was the SOLDIER floor, so it wasnât like a certain pair of young teen infantrymen freshly arrived from Banora could be curious about this sort of âghost storyâ...

ăă after neglecting this for months <<' I have finally finished this gift for @unforestalledreturn Based off our [Play with Fire] thread... we had no idea what we had gotten into then XD but damn. Intense.
[ INSIST ]Â for the shorter muse to guide the taller one to sit so they donât have to keep looking up.
They'd been in the middle of a conversation when the redhead suddenly grabbed him by the arm and guided him over to a chair and promptly pushed him down into it. He'd been so taken by surprise that he hadn't even thought to question it. At least not until he found himself sitting down.
"....Genesis? If you prefer us sitting down, you could have just said so." He assumed that the redhead had grown tired of standing... though Genesis wasn't sitting down himself.
