So! Reading a bunch of ASL [one piece] stuff and I’ve got an idea. No, I’m not writing this.
The duhn duhn duhn Very Weird Roadtrip au!! Hold on it goes downhill from here :] because we’re combining my love of found family, crack, and religious symbolism/feral creatures + cryptids!!
The main idea is this; the ASL bros have decided ‘fuck it we ball’ and have set off on a roadtrip to get away from their shitty home town, Sabos parents, and Garp. Among a number of other things. Also because they’re wanted by a secret organization who want Ace for his dna and Luffy for being an accidental result of a man made angel [yes that’s what I’ve decided Nika is].
I mean literally this came to me in a vision while I read @/Where-Does-The-Heart-Lie’ Water and Blood comic [go read it, I can grab a link if anyone wants] bc how they write the ASL bros is amazing lmao
Details + character stuff underneath
Luffy - [my fav so we start with him] when I mean man made I mean it’s part science and also my ability to pull things out of my ass <3 he looks like himself! Just with a bit extra! First off being the ‘halo’ in quotations bc it’s not really a halo. It doesn’t float, in fact it looks like it’s growing out of his skull [it is]. Just a giant yellow/white circle with spikes point out and some long enough they dig into his head. At some point they learn it’s directly connected to his brains ability to send out signals, probably bc they try to pull it out thinking it might hurt him like how tusks can grow into the animals eyes, and he just falls over brain dead. They put it back after a bit of panicking and he just sits up perfectly fine aside from the blood.
Which btw [bc i love horror and feral characters] I think if you move it too much it starts bleeding. No, none of this actually hurts Luffy. He can’t even really feel anything through it. Just knows it’s a physical part of him that he shouldn’t accidentally slam into a doorframe. Both Ace and Sabo are very grateful it isn’t very large, it fits essentially perfectly under the brim of his hat!
The second weird part of him is a very small set of wings he has! He probs grew them around the age of 13ish. The halo he grows after getting the hat btw. The wings are just a bit over two feet long and aren’t really similar to any particular birds other than just being large. They sit just above his pelvis, and the bones and muscles for them act like a secondary set of shoulders. Which means he has to wear some kinda of sweater zip-up or otherwise to cover them. Ace and Sabo help him preen them :]
Ace - oh yeah he gets to be kinda cryptid like too! He acts like a human unlike Sabo but isn’t as human looking as Luffy to put it simply. He has weird patterns all over his skin, kinda like how stretch marks look but if they were in the form of symbols and shit. They originally were only over his heart and chest area but slowly as he aged grew to cover almost all of him. Most of it is in big pattern circles wrapped around his limbs and neck or in symbols and signs over his torso and decorating this face. Luffy and Sabo probably doodle over them with sharpies or paint pens [wtv is available] when Ace is having an angst moment abt Roger.
The skin patterning comes from as stated previously kinda sort of; his genetics! Think like Roger was into/apart of some weird cult shit and it got passed down to Ace! Also why the police and govt in general keep a bit of caution with him. Bc he may or may not have weird abilities.
Said weird abilities are; the ability to talk to fire and get it to do things for him, which although he attempted to teach to Sabo, did not succeed. The ability to withstand pretty severe heat, and heat up anything he touches with his palms. Luffy and Sabo probably love that ability lol, use Ace as their personal heater. Aside from these he biologically is a human being with no extra bits or anything else!
Sabo - he might look human but you best believe this traumatized white boy is as feral as they come. He’s the most level headed up until the point it involves his brothers being in any [and I mean any. Even entirely imagined] kind of danger. In which case violence is and has always been the answer and your skull is being cracked open like a watermelon.
Second most charismatic btw, Ace might have more swag then any one man should ever have but Sabo can talk them out of almost any situation. And if he can’t either back to violence or they’re booking it as fast as they can back to the car. All three of them are absolutely willing to rock your shit btw. Sabo is just the most feral about it, Luffy and Ace use their fists :]
Almost always the one driving, Luffy doesn’t car for how the road laws work and Ace is almost too calm about breaking any rules/laws in his way. Also he would absolutely run someone over.
Uuuhhh Scar Time <3 I agree with most that he’s blind in his left eye, and damn am I reminded of Baldric. But setting that aside. How does he get wrecked in this universe?? Good question!! NOW HEAR ME OUT: if the World Gvt is doing all this cult stuff and acting like an actual full govt at the same time. What does that add to how the Celestial Dragons and World Nobles are treated + allowed to do? Keep that in mind when I tell you Sabo still gets his scars from a Celestial Dragon, the details are up to interpretation. Idk man.
EXTRA!!!!
1. Luffy probably learned to sleep upright since he can’t really sleep on a pillow. But they also learn that he isn’t affected in the slightest by weird sleeping positions so the other option is putting a pillow under his neck to elevate his head. This is as weird looking as it sounds but it works.
2. Ace’s marks and Luffy’s halo both glow in the dark, they aren’t super bright it’s just a gentle glow but Sabo has taken to wearing a sleep mask most nights. You know, the one out of six nights he does actually sleep.
3. They absolutely meet a variety of other characters throughout their travels and inspire people to, in order; rebel, kill, break free, do the thing they want to do, get a job, live, die, buy a house[?], burn down someone’s house.
4. Is god real? Do actual angels exist? You best fucking hope not. Those weirdos look AWFUL. Like go research what exactly different types of angels look like. But to be real for a moment; shrugging at you. They never meet any. [Luffy doesn’t count]
5. You need to understand the background of the story is filled with horror and dread, and ASL are in the foreground blasting White Girl Party Music and stealing people’s shit. Think crackfic with a serious plot in the background that is getting ignored for the entirety of it. Aka my fav type of thing lmao

Guess who watched Sheep Detective and now can’t stop thinking about the Rotcrew as sheep? No full writing about this one but you do get a ramble :] Rehua remains undecided tho, that’s up to the Soldiers to figure out bc I’m chill with anything.
Oran - Thinhorn Sheep. Runt, his right horn is broken at the base, missing front right leg. Usually trailed by very calm Gorgamungar who is a herding dog that got abandoned at an early age. And was picked up by Oran’s flock of wild sheep.
Vina - Border Leicester. Big cloud patterns dyed into her wool, originally a show animal that was going to go to slaughter. But after a fight with her flock, she found herself with the others.
Baldric - Borerary Sheep. Large heavily damaged horns, lots of burn scars across his front. Originally raised for meat. But upon finding out he was going to slaughter he broke out of the pasture and struck out on his own.
Tannhauser - Awassi. Lots and lots of scars, cracks in his horns but not fully broken except the tips. He was part of a flock rescued from abusive breeders. But during the rescue the place went up in flames, and he just barely managed to get himself and Zael out. [who’s a Rescuer btw]
Blah blah some kind of big emotional event and boom bam they find themselves in a flock together with goat/horse Rehua. [thinking for that is Horse Rehua is canon but a goat fits better for a sheep au to be similar but stand out as clearly different] that’s all for now :P I just like sheep and I like Rotcrew so now they’ve been combined. Already doodled some designs too lol not that you guys are getting those
So uh anyone else gone through the whole thing of feeling super awkward and weird about messaging your friends who like the same things you like about a thing all of you like? Anyway you guys get to hear the thing I’m too awkward to message my soldiers about :]
I GOT TO WATCH PROJECT HAIL MARY YESTERDAY AND OH MY GOD I LOVE IT AND HAVE ALREADY ORDERED THE BOOK!! Ahem hem. This gave me an idea, which I was trying to decide the details for which was why I messaged the soldiers and then backtracked immediately because the conversation topic changed. ANYWAY. The idea I had, and spoilers btw for the movie, was Baldric being the human sacrifice guy sent off into space even though he fought tooth and nail not to go. And Oran being the silly alien creature that he meets, detail I wanted soldiers opinion on; and gradually one by one meets the others too? Don’t know how I feel about that idea.
It would kinda be like the Alien au I made a while ago, but I want to change the species lore I set up and how they look too. Baldric of course would adamantly refuse to help Earth and would send out the two corpses of the people he was supposed to be stuck with accompanied by a middle finger. Even if he doesn’t remember who he is or why he’s in space I can assure you he would definitely remember how much he hates people :] of course as a chemist [closest thing to an alchemist] and a college professor, he gets to work trying to figure out what’s going on. And so would already have a good amount of info before he comes upon the location of the planet connected to the only sun not dying. Of course immediately being concerned when Orans ship tracks his.
I think Orans ship would be more nature based, a mix of metal and wood shaped as if they’re liquid to make a sustainable ecosystem enclosed in a… you know those black holes with the edges that stretch out to the sides? Like big circle with a dash through it? That. It’s shaped like that, with the back of the ship being a shorter dash shape than the front. And more specifically I think Oran would have an environment rich with oxygen and with a lower gravity than Earth, I’ve already thought out the others too! But let’s see that aside.
Now, how does he look? Well like I said I want him to be more alien, still distinctly Oran but still like ‘what the FUCK is that thing??’ When Baldric first looks at him. Large eyes of course, flatish nose with the beak shaped teeth I gave him in the MythCreatures au and no visible ears, think like an owl. With a more bird like hand with two thumbs and three fingers, the other arm of course being a wooden prosthetic melded into his body. Which is what he uses to write on papers as it leaves a mark like charcoal. His skin is thin, but not Toucan thin, just easy to cut as you can only really see it on a Strixs stomach and thighs, as that’s similar to certain birds that pluck where eggs are supposed to be beneath. The rest of him has feathers mostly, with his legs and arms having the pebble looking skin of normal birds and his face having normalish skin that’s a little thicker than the skin of his stomach. And because this is mostly self indulgent like most of my rambles are; he gets a long tail with a fan of feathers.
