In The Beginning...
The monsters emerged, Toriel leading the group and one by one they all reached the surface. The glimmers of the beautiful sea blue water shone from below them as the sun began to rise ahead. Undyne let out a gasp and rushed up ahead, “Is that--”
“A sunrise?” Alphys finished for her, “Yes, it is.” she smiled and Undyne stood in shock as the rest of the crew went and stood up beside her. Frisk stood next to Toriel, and tugged on her shirt as they pointed out towards a beach and a massive statue that could be seen from a hill not too far away from them, “That’s been here for ages my child, long before even our war,” she smiled down at Frisk who looked up at her curiously, “But that’s a tale for another time, we should head down to that beach, it looks like a good place to find a new home.”
They all headed down the hill; Asgore holding a pot with a tired looking Flowey in it, Toriel held Frisk’s hand, and Undyne and Alphys stood together as they walked. Papyrus was too amazed by everything he saw, fascinated by all the plants and greenery he saw about. Sans hummed to himself as Mettaton EX spoke aloud, “D’you think I’ll have a chance of being famous on the surface?”
“I don’t see why no--” Alphys’ speech was cut off by shouts and rumbles that could be heard from ahead.
“C’mon Amethyst it’s getting away!” Steven cried as Amethyst ran forward. Her attempts to capture it with her whip had failed as it slithered into a bush up ahead. They continued to run forward, but as they went to find the creature they caught a last glimpse of it being impaled by a blue spear. The corrupted gem creature poofed, leaving only a gem to fall to the floor.
“Huh.. Thats weird, no soul, just this?.” Undyne picked up the gem that had fallen to the floor and Amethyst ran forward,
“Hey! Be careful with that!” She shouted, and jumped up to reach the gem from her hands as Undyne looked down at her in shock. Amethyst came to about Alphys’ height, and yet she had snatched the gem clean out of her hands. Amethyst held it in her palm, encasing the gem in a bubble before it disappeared.
“What was that?!” Papyrus called out, and the moment Steven saw the skeleton he let out a gasp.
“You’re a skeleton! How cool!” He cried, before letting out a laugh. Amethyst looked at Papyrus as well, and chuckled, “Nice bones dude.” She said as Papyrus looked down at the both.
“I am cool to you, new human?” He says, and Steven looks up at him with a smile.
“Yeah, you are. And uh, my name is Steven, it’s nice to meet you.” He smiled, and Papyrus beamed.
“Look Undyne, this human-- Uh, Steven, thinks I, the great Papyrus, am cool!!” He looked proud of himself, and Undyne gave him a faint smile and said that was great before turning to look back at Amethyst.
Toriel took a few steps forward, and moved so she was in front of Amethyst. “You are a gem, right?” Her voice was soft, so as not to scare the human, Steven, or the gem, Amethyst.
“Uh, yeah. How’d you know that? And who are you?” Amethyst said, confused as she looked up at Toriel.
“I am Toriel. We are all monsters, from the Underground. It is where we have been for the past many hundreds of years, since the humans banished us there.”
As Toriel spoke, Amethyst looked up at her in amazement. “You guys are the real monsters? From that war.. Oh my Goodness, we gotta show you guys to the others.”
“There are others still?” Toriel furrowed her eyebrows.
“Oh yeah, Garnet and Pearl! And Peridot at the moment.” Steven said, and smiled up at the tall goat lady.
“I would love to meet them.” Toriel said, and Amethyst nodded, before walking them all back to the temple.
“Yo Pearl, Garnet, Peri, we have guests.” Amethyst called up to the house from down on the sandy beach. Each time the waves crashed onto the shore, Mettaton would jump back in surprise, which Undyne found quite hilarious. Alphys was busy looking around, the overground fascinated her immensely.
Pearl could be seen to peer over the edge of the balcony on the house, and looked down at the group below before letting out a gasp and hurrying back in and tugging on Garnet’s arm. They both walked outside, and once Garnet saw the monsters, even she let out a small, ‘Woah.’
“Can they come in?” Amethyst asked, and Pearl looked nervously at Garnet who looked down at them and nodded.
