[Understring's Fall]

Patches isn't surprised to find that the void leads to, well, even more void. At least Needle is still with them, so they aren't completely alone. Patches is shockingly calm, considering the situation. Needle, on the other hand, is on the verge of panic.

Patches, seeing that they're the one who started all this, tries to comfort Needle. Much to their surprise, their ghostly companion manages to calm down a little. Patches then suggests that they, if Needle wants to, reintroduce themselves.

Their first meeting was certainly rocky and honestly, it only went downhill from there. After introductions are exchanged, the two move onto the most obvious problem. How does someone leave a seemingly endless void?

They decide to untangle all of the RESET strings first. And as a safety precaution, Needle transforms some of them into a harness, connecting the ghost to Patches. Messing with the remaining strings, they learn more about its unique abilities.

The strings can be stretched into a makeshift portal, extending as long as necessary. Patches guesses that this leads out of the void, but they don't know where it leads specifically. (They'll eventually figure out how to control the destination though.)

Stepping through, a completely different world is revealed. Monsters and humans are everywhere, and shiny towers reach up to the sky. Needle, who only has vague memories of a small village, is blown away. Patches, however, recognizes this place as a bustling city.

The two wander around the city, before eventually running into... Sans? With blue eye lights and a matching bandanna, "Sans" quickly apologizes for bumping into them. Awkward silence soon takes over. Patches and Needle are very confused by the sight of another Sans, while "Sans" is questioning if these two are, well, from another AU. Three ghosts isn't a normal sight, right...?

Needle eventually breaks the silence by introducing themselves and Patches. The other introduces himself as Morpho. "...I HOPE YOU DON'T MIND IF I CUT TO THE CHASE. ARE YOU TWO FROM ANOTHER UNIVERSE?"

Needle and Patches have a silent debate, wondering whether they can trust this stranger. Needle argues against telling Morpho anything, while Patches thinks they should give him a chance. In the end, Patches confirms that they are from another... world.

Upon hearing this, Morpho can't help but feel conflicted between being surprised and not surprised. He knows about AUs and whatnot, but meeting people from other worlds is always a little unsettling (not in a bad way! It's just interesting knowing that there's so much out there).

Anywho, Morpho offers to let them visit his place. "I BELIEVE WE HAVE A LOT TO DISCUSS. NO PRESSURE OF COURSE!" Needle and Patches decide to go with him because, well, what else would they do? (Off topic side note: Morpho's younger bro is out at work, but he eventually meets them. He also knows about the AUs and whatnot.)

Once there, Morpho explains how he knew Patches and Needle were from another AU. He also explains what the Multiverse is exactly, how AUs work, and mentions his friends Sable and Sumeru. The guardian of the Multiverse and the guardian of positivity, respectively.

In turn, Patches and Needle talk about the story of Understring, all the way up to leaving the void. With that out of the way, Morpho offers to introduce them to Sable and Sumeru. That is, whenever they come visit.

Patches and Needle end up meeting the others, and are close friends with Morpho and Sumeru. Sable, on the other hand, tends to avoid them. Oh well, friendship can't be forced.

[A Year Later]

Patches, Needle, Sumeru, and Morpho are hanging out, when Sable suddenly appears. They're acting really excited and, even stranger, seem glad to see Needle and Patches. He calms down for a moment, saying that he has something big to share. And something to confess.

Sable has a lot to explain. Over the past year, he's kept a lot hidden. For instance, the real reason they were always uneasy around Patches and Needle? It was never because he disliked them, it was because of his friendship with Weaver.

Sable decided it would be best to not tell anyone about their friendship, knowing that nobody would have a positive reaction. Of course, Sumeru isn't happy that Sable kept this a secret. Morpho, Needle, and Patches however, are a little more understanding.

In the Underground, Morpho strongly suspected US! Chara was able to manipulate timelines. Yet he didn't tell his brother this, nor anyone else. As for Patches and Needle, they would have certainly lost all trust in Sable if they knew he was friends with Weaver.

Yet that was a year ago. When Understring had fallen and relationships were severed. The four of them decide to forgive the artist. With that finally revealed, he moves onto the "big news." Weaver has established a truce.

No more destruction. No more innocent deaths. And he wanted to give his most sincere apologies to Needle and Patches.

[Understring's Fall]

Seeing that his AU and home has been completely destroyed, Weaver spends a lot of time traveling. He makes himself a set of clothes and learns how to teleport more accurately. He also learns that he possesses strings of code.

This discovery is absolutely horrifying, yet so so interesting. In his hands is the exact thing that murdered his loved ones. ...what was it like? Holding an instrument of destruction in your hands? The temptation is too powerful, so Weaver experiments with his strings in a random AU.

The results... aren't good. He can immediately tell that his strings are much more powerful than Patches'. And taking a closer look, the code isn't even from the AU he stands in. Out of sheer panic, Weaver flees and winds up in another AU.

This is where he encounters a strange looking... Sans? Well, kind of like Sans - just with a long brown scarf and colorful vials. The stranger introduces themself as Sable, guardian of the multiverse. Or, more accurately, just someone who runs around trying to keep AUs alive.

This prompts Weaver to ask if they've heard of Understring. It's not likely, but perhaps this skeleton can help him out. Sable doesn't recognize the name, but asks Weaver to tell him about the AU. He shares everything, from the arrival of Patches to his experiment with the strings.

The guardian is stunned. It's like the affect of his paints have suddenly worn off, and they can't feel anything. Another... destroyer? Another Error? No matter how bad it might make him look, Sable needed to leave. They make an excuse and bolt, leaving Weaver alone.

All alone, with only his anger and loneliness for company. Not a good combination...

[A Year Later]

Over the year, Weaver was in a destructive daze. It was an endless cycle of destruction, without any regards for the consequences. Until one day, he meets CB.

He practically fell head over heels in love. And who can blame him? CB is, quite simply, a perfect match for Weaver. (Link to what happens next)

To briefly summarize, meeting CB is enough to end Weaver's destructive gloom. Eventually, CB proposes and the two are happily married. Finally, Weaver can let go of the past and live freely.

[It was once a normal version of Undertale. Now, it has been completely erased. This is the story of its fate.]

[One day... long after the deaths of the king and queen's beloved children... a human fell down. Meet Patches, though right now, their name is Frisk.]

[Frisk has the unique ability to RESET the timeline and return to their arrival. However, every time they do so, a piece of string appears on their wrist. They didn't give much thought to this at first and continued to RESET whenever they liked.]

[During one of their reruns, a ghostly figure appears to them. This is Chara, soon to become Needle. They explain to Frisk that their constant RESETs have dislodged strings of code and resulted in Chara being separated from Frisk. They warn the human against further RESETs, as this may cause more glitches.]

[Frisk did not heed these warnings and continued to RESET. Chara did not lose any of their memories, becoming more and more anxious as they followed Frisk through the Underground. Papyrus, on the other hand, become much colder towards Frisk. He refused to hang out with them, not providing any support on their journey. He will take the name of Weaver. Flowey even made an attempt to intervene, telling Frisk that they would destroy the Underground.]

[Nothing could convince the human. Nothing could take away this feeling of power.]

[When Papyrus become king shortly after Frisk left, Chara and Flowey met up for an emergency meeting. The two of them could sense that Understring was close to falling. And yet... what could they do? With heavy hearts, the two of them embraced. This may be the last time they ever will.]

[Moving forward to a Genocide route, this is Frisk's last RESET. They have gathered a countless amount of strings. In Snowdin, it was not Papyrus who faced them, but Sans. He stood firm, refusing to fight, and believing the human could change their ways. Dust soon scattered in the wind.]

[In the Judgement Hall, Papyrus was the judge. Chara, who had followed Frisk through the Underground, wavered between the two. As Frisk and Papyrus fought, their battle shook the Underground. At this point, Understring was so unstable it began to fall apart.]

[One by one... it all vanished. Ruins, Snowdin, Waterfall, Hotland... The CORE, New Home... everything was transformed into a white void. Frisk and Papyrus paused in their battle, both heavily injured. Desperate and terrified, Chara urged Frisk to flee.]

The city of Ebbot was alive with sounds and sights. The chatter of passing pedestrians filled the air, monsters and humans alike traveling to their own locations. Doors swung open and shut to make way for empty arms and arms weighed with heavy bags.

Patches strolled down the sidewalk, unraveling a bundle of yarn. Just one more... There! They wrapped the colorful strings around their wrist, smiling with satisfaction. Hm... it's strange not seeing Needle around all the time. But I know they won't end up in danger, and I bet they like being able to travel wherever they want.

The human stopped in front of a tall, white building. Large golden lettering read Ebbot City Public Librarby. They stared up at the sign. Li... brarby? Well, Needle did say they would be here. I guess they weren't joking about the name. Pulling open one of the doors, they stepped into the library.

Wooden shelves filled with books reached up towards the ceiling. Armchairs and sofas were placed around the room, with soft pillows on top. Needle was settled on a windowsill, reading a history book about Mount Ebbot. It was hard to focus on the pages however, and they kept gazing out the window every few minutes.

I wonder where Patches is... Needle thought absently. It's kind of weird not seeing them every second. They shrugged. It's nice not having a harness around my waist though.

"Needle...?" A voice called softly. Ah, there they are. Needle smiled, turning to face their friend. "What's up, Patches?"

"Are you having fun?" They asked, motioning to the open book. Needle glanced down at it, having momentarily forgotten it was there. "Oh... uh, I wasn't really reading actually." Patches nodded awkwardly. A few moments passed, both of them avoiding each other's eyes.

"So... is something wrong? You didn't really answer me the first time..." Needle said, looking back at Patches. They blinked. "Oh, no, everything's alright. I just came over to give you something." The ghost tilted their head, watching Patches curiously. They shifted, tugging a golden string off their wrist. A string of code...?

Stepping forward, they gently looped it around Needle's own wrist. "It's... well, it's a string of code, obviously. But... if you're ever in the mood to travel, you can use this." They smiled slightly. "Of course, you probably know how it all works." Needle stared down at the bracelet, not saying a word. Suddenly, they stood up and wrapped their arms around Patches, hugging them as well as they could.

Patches froze, startled by the sudden contact. Being hugged by a ghost was very similar to walking through light rain, but it was not unpleasant. "...thank you. This... it's amazing," Needle murmured. "Ah- you don't need- you're welcome?" They stuttered, struggling to come up with a proper response. Needle suddenly straightened, releasing the other. "Oh, sorry! I probably scared you."

"...it's ok. You're a good hugger for a ghost, you know." Patches could have sworn Needle's pink cheeks turned a darker shade as they quickly looked away. "S-sure..." Patches laughed, choosing to change the subject. "Hey, I saw a grocery store on my way here. Want to drop by and get something?"

"Do you have any money? Or are we going to steal it?" Needle teased. "I did bring money! I'm not a criminal!" Patches retorted. "Although, I can see you as one." They placed a hand on their chest in mock offense. "How rude! I thought we were friends!"

The sun was setting, casting its golden light across Ebbot City. There was not a single cloud in the sky, and one could see Mount Ebbot looming in the distance. Two figures were standing on top of a towering building, facing towards the mountain.

“Here we are,” Weaver announced, holding a folded blanket in his arms. CB stood besides him, staring in awe at the colorful sky. A teal scarf was wrapped around her neck, fluttering in the wind. “It’s so pretty…” she murmured.

Weaver smiled. “I was hoping you would enjoy the view.” He unfolded the blanket, spreading it on the building’s roof. “Now, let’s take a seat. In a few moments, the show will begin.”

The brilliant warmth of the sunset faded as night settled and the stars appeared, like black velvet being poked with a needle. All of a sudden, a bright flash streaked across the sky. Several more soon followed, like cosmic drops of rain.

“Weaver! Weaver, look!” CB exclaimed, her voice barely above a whisper. “Do you want to make a wish?” He asked softly, equally mesmerized by the display. His partner nodded, and they both turned back to the night sky.

I wish…

Rain poured down from the sky, accompanied by gray clouds. Sable wandered through the streets, carrying an umbrella. He was going to meet up with Sumeru, when it had started raining. He shrugged. I know Sumeru enjoys the rain, so maybe he won’t mind if I’m late.

A soft meowing sound interrupted his thoughts. Sable paused, glancing down a dark alleyway. The meowing came again, sounding much louder now. Uhh… are those cats? Sable stepped into the alley, nearly tripping over a cardboard box. Its walls were falling apart, but two colorful shapes were inside.

One of the kittens glanced up at him. He had orange fur and bright blue eyes. The other appeared to be asleep, his tortoiseshell fur shining in the rain. Sable stared down at them, wondering what to do. Hmm… oh! I know! He bent down, scooping up the kittens and wrapping them in his scarf.

I hope Sumeru doesn’t mind me taking a little detour. I just have to make a quick visit.

Weaver was sitting in a sunny meadow, humming as he wrapped a blue string around a bundle of flowers. “AYY WEAVER!” He jumped, dropping the flowers. Sable leaped from a puddle of ink, grinning broadly and holding an umbrella. “Sable… Hello,” he murmured, setting the flowers off to the side.

“Ooh, did I interrupt your flower picking? Sorry!” Sable closed his umbrella and dropped it on the grass, moving to hold a strange lump in his scarf. “…are those for CB?”

“No! I mean- yes, they are but… is something wrong with your scarf? It looks all tangled.”

“Huh? Oh, right, the cats!!” Sable quickly unwrapped the two kittens, showing them to Weaver. “Aren’t they cute? I found them in a box and it was raining a lot, so I decided to take em!” He shifted, suddenly looking nervous. “And, uh, you know I’m not good with animals so I wanted to ask…”

Weaver gently took the cats from Sable, holding them in his arms. The orange one immediately perked up, climbing onto Weaver’s shoulder. His sibling yawned, then went back to sleep. “If I’d adopt them?” he asked, his eyes shining.

“Yea, that was the plan.” Sable laughed. “Looks like they like you already.” Weaver smiled. “Well… I don’t think CB will mind having them around.”

“Soooo? What are you going to name them?”
