Understanding Preferred Learning Styles
Understanding how you learn best is a good indicator of how you may be inclined to teach. While some students may learn the same way you do, the chances of your entire classroom having your same learning style is essentially impossible.
Here are some examples of different learning styles:
So for example, if you are an auditory learner, that means that you retain information best when you hear it, and this may incline you to teach towards other auditory learners since that is what has been most affective in your personal experience. But, as a teacher, you should be aware that some students learn best by seeing information in front of them or even by learning in a more hands-on fashion. Knowing that you need to pay greater attention to catering towards visual and kinesthetic learners can help you create a classroom environment in which students are able to retain any information needed regardless of preferred learning style.
