Heya,every body,long time no see!!

Underspirit is based somewhat off of the Golden Compass.

The monsters are born with spirit animals that takes on a representation of their cumulative being. The animal carries the soul of the Monster for safety.

They were sentenced to be underground for their magic and abilities by the humans long ago.

A human fell down many centuries later and found that monsters exist, the royals took in the child, but over time he became jealous of not having a spirit animal of his own. Jealousy took over and he tried to take the soul from the animal of the royal son. In doing so he killed the animal, which killed the son.

In rage and grief the child committed suicide, and was later found near a pile of dust in a garden of flowers.

Since then the King has been trying to collect souls of the humans to break the barrier and free his kind.

Q: Are Monsters the only ones with Spirit Animals?

A: Yes, humans do not have spirit animals.

Q: What Roll do the Spirit animals play, and how are they important.

A: The Spirit animal is the keeper of the Monsters soul. They are basically the culmination of the Monster in animal form.

Q: So what would happen if a monster’s physical body was destroyed but their spirit animal was alive?

A: The animal would live on and collect magic in the soul until a new body could be made.

(Depending on the type of monster; Boss Monster/Lesser Monster it could take days to years.)

Q: What would happen if a spirit animal and their monster were to be separated?

A: The monster would slowly lose “metaphorically” life, and become dull, and slow. After a period of time; say a few months. They would become a lifeless shell just waiting to be reunited.

Once reunited the Monster would go back to normal; as if nothing happened. Though the negative thoughts and memories of being separated would still be there.

Q: Can the spirit animal do anything special like wield magic?

A: Basic defense magic, and depending on the type of magic the monster wields also depends if the spirit animal has special moves.

Q: Did the human vs monster war happen? If so what role did the spirit animals play in it?

A: Yes; the war happened. Though albeit, it was tricky killing the monsters due to their spirit animals escaping once the physical bodies were destroyed; I believe the monsters surrendered after being overwhelmed and were then sealed away.

Q: How would one confront the monsters in battle with their spirit animal?

A: They would have to initiate an encounter with said monster, and spirit animal.

Both can be attacked; but both will defend one another. If given the chance the spirit animal will always flee to safety, before being killed.

Q: What would happen if a monster absorbed a human soul then?

A: Increase in magic; defense of monster body increases an extreme amount. The spirit animal would have two souls instead of just one, the human soul would act as an amplifier to the monster soul; or like an extra battery. If the monster continuously absorbs human souls; the monster could essentially become limitless..

The defense of the spirit animal however does not change, essentially it would have to run out of human souls before the monster soul it holds would be hurt. Kind of like a shield in away.

Q: Could a Spirit animal absorb a human soul and pass through the barrier?

A: If the monster has absorbed a human soul; the spirit animal will automatically carry it. Essentially the spirit animal could cross the barrier; but the animal would not want to be separated from the Monster.

If the Monster were to carry the spirit animal, then they could go through the barrier together.

Q: Do the Spirit animals share personal traits, or have their own personalities?

A: Yes they share similar traits and personalities; though the spirit animals have their own quirks.

Q: Does the Monsters emotions reflect through the Spirit Animal?

A: Only is the Monster is in emotional turmoil; regular day to day emotions; does not reflect through the Spirit Animal.

Q: So would monsters be born with their spirit animal or would it be formed through time?

A: They would be born with their spirit animal. Though a Monster can come to dislike their spirit animal and take back their soul to carry it within them. This is seen as a taboo thing; and also dangerous as the monster’s body are usually easy to damage with the right intent.

Once the Soul has been taken from the Spirit Animal; the animal becomes a normal creature; and has no recollection of being a partner to the Monster; and has normal animal intellect.

Q: Can any Monster have a spirit animal?

A: Yes of course!

Q: Can the Spirit Animals talk?

A: Yes; if they feel like it they will talk when ever.

Q: What happens when a monster falls in love? Does the spirit animal fall for the other’s spirit animal?

A: Yes and no? The spirit animal becomes really friendly and affectionate towards the other Monster; not necessarily the spirit animal. Even though they carry the soul of the Monster; they do not perceive it that way.

Q: What happens if the Spirit Animal is killed?

A: The Monster attached to the spirit animal will turn to dust.

Q: Does taking the Soul back from the Animal hurt them, or can it kill them.

A: It all has to do with intent, if the Monster is wanting their soul back; the animal feels no pain. An enemy tries taking the soul from the animal the animal can be hurt or even killed as the animal will do all it can to protect the soul inside them.

Q: Do the Spirit animals have a soul of their own?

A: No, this is why they turn back into normal animals after the soul is extracted.

Q: Do the Spirit Animals have genders?

A: They are gender neutral
