DT can, with the will of any entity, fundamentally alter the makeup of its own universe. It can neither be purified nor be compressed, and its interactions need not abide by traditional understandings of physics. For these reasons, among many others, DT is defined as the purest form of an external meta-interaction medium.
However, as an external meta-interaction medium, DT cannot alter the laws of its universe; it must abide by the rules set accordingly. If its universe mandates a maximum of five DT-generated fallback states (also known as SAVE FILEs), then it cannot exceed that maximum. If its universe mandates its use only in the presence of defined meta-interaction points (also known as SAVE POINTs), then it can only function within that area.
In order to change the laws of a relative universe, an internal meta-interaction medium must be used. These mediums, however, are extremely hard to find, and rarely, if ever, take on a physical form. To create an internal meta-interaction medium, another internal meta-interaction medium must be used (in which net interaction potential is lost), or the rules of the universe must facilitate its formation in some way. (Other methods of formation have been theorized, but remain unproven.) Additionally, an internal meta-interaction medium is partially eliminated when performing any action, unlike external meta-interaction mediums.
HPE is defined as the purest form of an internal meta-interaction medium. HPE does not exist naturally, and is very unstable when uncontained. In fact, when uncontained and not sufficiently in the presence of an entity, it has a half-life of 5.39e-44 seconds (one Planck time). However, its uses and near lack of limitations (e.g. it can be used anywhere, as long as it is sufficiently compatible with its universe) justify the difficult methods used to obtain it.
