30. “detention? again?”

“You gotta be kiddin’ me.” The irritation in your voice is palpable, and you can’t help be satisfied at the way Osamu cringes back, having the decency to look a little ashamed.

“It wasn’t-”

“It was defintely your fault I don’t even need to ask what happened, ya idiot.” 

“C’mon ‘Tsumu will never lemme live it down just say we’re goin’ on a little outtin’ and then you don’t have to go practice either.” He looks ready to get down on his knees and beg, and although it’s tempting your sense of responsibilty overrules the stupid request. 

“I just can’t believe you, detention? Again? You’re a third year set a better example for the kouhai.” He groans at the chastisement before trying one more time to get you to cover for him. 

“Fine, tell me what you got detention for and I’ll consider helpin’ you out.” 

He mumbles something under his breath, eyes pinned to the ground as he rubs at the back of his neck. 

“What?”

“I uh, elbowed a guy in the face.” 

“Osamu!” There’s a moment of shock, because for all the fighting and violence he exacted against his brother, it wasn’t like him to even waste the energy on someone else. 

“He was sayin’ some dumb shit I had to!”

“You had to. What exactly was he saying?” There’s another mumbled reply, only making you shake your head in annoyance. “Osamu if you want me to help then you’re gonna have to be honest.” 

“He was sayin’ gross things ‘bout you, so I elbowed him in the face when I was walkin’ by his desk.” You blink once, twice, a heat rising in your cheeks and your heart beating just a second faster at the admission. There’s a sheepish look in his eyes and you know he wouldn’t lie about something like that just for a favor.

“Okay. Fine. I’ll cover for you.” You sigh turning your head to the side in hopes of hiding whatever expression lies upon your face, grinning when Osamu starts to sing his praises and thanks.
