i don’t care if it’s cliché to love the dead poet’s society. it’s a brilliant story and if loving it is wrong, i’ll never be right.

Mermaids in "Uncle Walt"
"Uncle Walt" is a short film project made by animation student Robert Swarthe in 1964. The short is a dark and vulgar (for 1964 at least) parody of Disney. After decades of being kept from the public, the full short is now available on YouTube.
Since this is pre-Ariel, these mermaids must be spoofing the Neverland mermaids. The presence of Tinker Bell seems to make this clear.
Update: Got some slightly better screencaps.
The infamous controversial 1964 Disney parody fan film. Uncle Walt, by Robert Swarthe has finally surfaced!
the way my nana is able to stress out my uncle here so easily with a phone # 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, i can see why Robert Swarthe didn't want to release Uncle Walt on the internet
Its just.... meh.... a really accomplished digital effects artists's edgy animated short
Like newgrounds and adult swim have just been doing that for decades, hell, one of the first bits of web animation that shocked/inspired me... was Bambee. But unlike uncle walt, its actually well animated. Ontop of that, theres also Rabbit Habit, bring me the head of charlie brown, and... the censored 11. All of which have like... varying levels of animation quality... but they all have a plot

So I did see Uncle Walt
So yeah! I did see Uncle Walt and it felt like a 60s YTP mixed with Newgrounds Flash Animation.
But there are also a lot of racist streotypes and content that made me realize that I really only like the Disney's Renaissance and Post Renaissance movies for the most part because they are far less racist than the older works(Post-Renaissance especially since there was more of a focus on BIPOC characters getting more positive uplifting roles(Especially Native Americans and Hawaiians) even if the voice actors aren't of that race most of the time sadly).
I also think the Ren and Stimpy episode where Stimpy makes an animated short with the moral of "Don't meet your heroes" might be inspired by this film.
Still crazy this film predicted internet culture without the internet.

Note: the Uncle Walt lost media has heavy content, such as racist, suggestive, and overall disturbing and offensive imagery. I do not support the offensive parts of this lost media, nor do i condone it. If you want to learn more, take note of these things.
Walt Wednesday!
