He does not like the water necessarily but understands that’s it’s necessary and is fascinated by the underwater flora in the Black Lake. When it comes to temperature he would like it to be warm, he’s spent too much time in freezing-cold water, thank you.

In short: Not really. Neville knows that the holidays mean a visit to his parents which he appreciates but it just reminds him of what he doesn’t have. Gran, Uncle Algie, and Aunt Enid clearly love him but where not affectionate caregivers. He’d much rather spend time at school with the few friends he has.

Uncle Algie was always his least favorite person growing up. Every time Uncle Algie came to babysit Neville got thrown down a window or down the stairs or into the pond via the window or just chucking him in with no regard for whether the boy knew how to swim or not (he quickly figured it out so Algie would have to levitate him out of the water every time). He wanted nothing more than to give Uncle Algie what he was looking for but, the problem was, he never knew what exactly it was that Uncle Algie was trying to get.
