#unbecoming

Sweetheart, when someone makes a noble sacrifice for you, stealing their moment is unbecoming.

I’ve read some of your works (currently reading Unbecoming), and I love how imaginative and whimsical they all are. You’re very thoughtful, and it’s clear you have enormous love for stories and just . . . humanity? The things and experiences that make us human, and also wonder and whimsy. You pull it all together beautifully too.

I also really appreciate your voice and the insights you share. I was just reading Ethel’s conversation with the dragon, and thinking of the point made that changing doesn’t have to be bad, even if you are no longer the person you were or the one people expected. That’s such a hopeful perspective on life, and I really appreciate you sharing that. Like, truly.

And one more thing, I love how you frame compassion as a strength. Characters are strong and brave because they are kind, and it just feeds my soul. That scene of Hero in the Market (“we save monsters”) is one of my favorites.

I'm always so happy when someone brings up Unbecoming (my first prose book, you can get it here as physical or digital!) because even though it's riddled with typos and somehow I used the simile of a zoetrope TWICE it is very much a near and dear to my heart little book. It's also illustrated by the fantastic @crankyteapot too! I love every drawing so much! Maybe one day I'll be able to release a hardback with more of them... anyway, I'm very glad that you enjoyed it so much.
