"A Kink in Cognition" is now available. This paper introduces acentrism as a theoretical and practical departure from human-centred models of art, perception, and interpretation. Its method is parallel signal literacy: the capacity to sustain attention across co-present signal systems without reducing them to a single interpretive order.
- Ed Yong, An Immense World: How Animal Senses Reveal the Hidden Realms Around Us
They named UMWELT, and she was the metric by which all internal experiences could be judged. They scanned her mind and sampled her stem cell
new microfiction piece out in hex literary today!! here's a weird little piece about objective reality :3
Breaching Umwelten
An embroidery for an evolution class. After reading An Immense World by Ed Yong I was really taken by Umwelt theory, about the ways animals worlds are bounded by the senses they use to experience them. It’s pretty neat, go read about it maybe. Also go read about cuttlefish and scallop eyes I did a whole presentation on them they’re wacky and very pretty.

What have we gained by this knowledge? Something very significant. Time, which frames all events, seemed to us to be the only objectively consistent factor, compared to the variegated changes of its contents, but now we see that the subject controls the time of its environment. While we said before, 'There can be no living subject without time,' now we shall have to say 'Without a living subject, there can be no time.'
