everything had happened so fast. first, in the blink of an eye, an entire ward was practically destroyed. after being frozen in place for minutes in fear, they had finally managed to come up with a rescue plan, which would double as an escape plan. then they had finally found an opening, broken through the wall which they had been hiding behind . . . and soar into the air, a unit with which kacchan could escape.

then, while they are in the air and shortly after kacchan is saved, some sort of tendril grabs him by the leg and yanks him free of the unit. they keep going --- which is a relief --- but he hits the ground hard, which leaves him stunned. he realizes that he is in the midst of the villains, and close to a warp that has opened up ( the same one from usj, he notices ). as the villains flee, he is pulled with them, through the portal, and away from safety . . .

it is unclear where he is . . . or how long he has been there. he is, literally and otherwise, kept in the dark. worse than not knowing anything about his own situation is not knowing anything about what had happened in kamino. is all might okay? did kacchan, todoroki, kirishima, iida, and yaoyorozu escape successfully? he has not heard anything and it is causing him extreme stress. he very nearly neglects to consider why he is alive and where he is, rather than dead . . . and even when he considers it, he is so overwhelmed by the prospect of the others not making it out alright that he does not linger on his own situation.

it is almost a relief when he finally, after some indeterminate amount of time, hears movement somewhere nearby. he is almost relieved when he identifies the sound of footsteps, but that feeling is outweighed by apprehension --- who is coming? is it one of the league? all for one, perhaps? maybe heroes that found where he is being kept? unfortunately, when the door opens to the room he is being kept in, it is the worst of the prospects who appears before him --- all for one himself, alive and in the flesh.

❝ you . . . ❞ his voice is quiet and a lump forms in his throat. if all for one is here . . . that means that . . . he furrows his brow and turns his head, fixes his gaze on the ground. he refuses to let himself jump to conclusions. just because all for one is here . . . doesn’t mean all might is . . .

Moving. While Carol was usually always on the move actually moving her home, which lets be real she rarely spent much time at, was something she definitely didn’t miss. This was certainly the first time she’d moved to another country and that in itself was a task. While she could have easily carry that furniture herself, she still had a secret identity and had to keep up appearances so instead she stood off to the side and watched as the movers brought her things off the truck. With a heavy sigh she crossed her arms and let her mind wander a bit.

Had this been the right thing to do? For the past ten years she’d finally been in the number two spot but it just --- it didn’t feel right. Even after fighting to get there, after all the good she’d done, or at least tried to do, it never felt like enough. The whole system was so messed up. Finding out they might not only be producing Heroes but the villains as well? It made her sick. So she left.
