Gemuary 2025 Day 14: Ulexite

Ulexite is a gem used for surveillance. She can view long distances and create holograms from her gem showing what she sees. This is a Ulexite’s only method of seeing anything however so they are incredibly vulnerable in this state, especially because they are incredibly easy to crack or shatter.

They can be very useful, being able to see areas and gather information without needing to even be on the same planet, however the Ulexite would have to visit a location at least once before they can begin viewing it.

Ulexites stopped being created after the war with the Crystal Gems ended because of the difficulty of making them, oftentimes they would come out as a Selenite instead. With just how breakable they were the diamonds could not justify wasting what little resources there were by creating more.

The few Ulexite that were left after the war dwindled until there are only a handful still in use, one of which is shown above with her two attendants, a silver pearl and a clear quartz.

This Ulexite is used by white diamond to monitor the colonies without the colonies knowing they’re being watched. After a planet has been secured she is shown around with a personal group of guards to make sure that nothing untoward happens to her.

When she isn’t on planet gaining locations she can view remotely she is sequestered within the palace of homeworld confined to a room away from others to prevent her from being shattered either accidentally or one purpose.

Only two other gems, besides the diamonds, are allowed to see her during these times.

The first is a Silver Pearl. Rewarded to Ulexite as a “seeing eye pearl” after a close call with some rebels during the war. The Pearl is quiet, not even her steps make too much noise. She has been described as the ghost that follows a gem risking her own shattering to even go outside. Even other pearls tend to find her unsettling at times with the intensity of her stare.

The other attendant is a Clear Quartz. Quiet like the pearl as well, but less intimidating than her somehow. She is big and steady, but much more gentle and calmer than other quartz soldiers. She protects Ulexite from those trying to shatter her, but also from much more mundane threats like stairs that could be fallen down.

These three have been side by side for thousands of years and it is unlikely to even catch a glimpse of Ulexite without seeing one or both of her attendants nearby as well.

Silver Pearl is so undeserving of the messy end she’s usually destined for, but this time, she gets to go home with Ulexite in a good timeline! Yay! Unfortunately Silver’s girlfriend’s--Periwinkle’s--owner, Moonstone, isn’t yet part of the rebellion, which means Ulexite has a lot of socializing and pitching to do to make sure Silver and Periwinkle can have their happily ever after. But what else is a tiny fairy godmother for?
