Days 4 & 5: leaving the cupboard skirting/ kickboards off until after the floors go in. The paint on cupboards is the first cost. A kitchen painter is coming to do the final coats the first week in June. The framed chicken wire section is, unfortunately, not photographing very well - it’s quite lovely in person! Day 3: handles and knobs going on, island lights installed, fridge and freezer units taking shape. We have quite low ceilings in this historic home, so I did some reading on how to make the ceilings appear higher. We are embarking on a total kitchen redo and thought we’d chronicle it from beginning to end. So, welcome, and here goes!! This is the previous kitchen and living room - essentially the space we are working with (with the kitchen wall knocked out) is about 5.5 x 12 metres (18’ x 40’) in which we are creating a galley pantry (where our old kitchen was, as shown in the photographs) and an open plan kitchen-living room.
