fucked up dbh au where thirium is sentient and is forming massive beasts that are drawn towards inorganic material in order to get larger and then mitosis into more of themselves. cyberlife, obviously, seeing an oppurtinity and possible goverment commision, gets into making combat/defense units. unlike the game, these ones are allowed to get deviancy (even encouraged to!) because they might need to calculate the weight of human lives vs their mission (bring down the beasts as fast as possible) at some point, and a machine would 100% go for the mission.

so its a problem when an unfinished prototype hasnt snapped out of machine mode for the last few months. especially since its like 95 meters tall. amanda, who is overseeing the whole process, has almost no choice given everyone who has enough authorization to know about the prototype either is fucking scared shitless of that thing or not mentally ready to get closer than 5 meters to it. there is a reason the the armor meant for the new pilot says "PLT-02" on it, and that the cockpit behind the LED smells lightly of bleach still.

a friend of hers says that he knows a guy in the group. sure. yeah. fine. this is where we are now. "knows a guy". not testing, not cv reading, just straight up "knows a guy". if she didint have the entirety of cyberlife and the goverment breathing on her neck, amanda would have obviously refused.

she still thinks about refusing when the most miserable man she has ever seen walks through the doors of her office the next day.
