Today in #YellowBand, 4th graders practiced fractions using a real world situation- making a cookie pizza! Students were given the choice of 5 flavors (#ChocolateChip, #SugarCookie, #RedVelvet, #PeanutButter, and #SnickerDoodle) and had to customize their "pie" using a combination of 8 slices (their own creation). Then students wrote fractions to show what part of the pie each flavor represented. Finally, students created visual representations of each pie and shared with their peers.
