“Are you the one who I met before?” She asked with hope. The deer nodded and yawned. He stood himself and bowed his head at Roe.

“I must say I’m sorry for spooking earlier. I thought I saw wolves in the distance. I meant no harm to you.” He looked down at the ground that he had been picking a with his hoof.

Roe moved closer till she stood nose to nose with the deer. “Well I’m Roe. It is more than a pleasure for us to meet again.” She nuzzled his neck in a quick greeting.

He smiled and nuzzled back .”My name is Avalon. Would you care to stay here? Wolves and other hunters don’t come around often. Perhaps we could live in peace together?” Optimistic as this was he wanted to know Roe better. This strange colored deer like him could be the best chance he has at a normal life.

Roe looked at Avalon with a happy smile. Her hooves clopping on the dirt and stone floor. “Sure! Oh this will be so much fun! We can watch the stars and gather food together oh gosh yes!” Her excited stomping bounced off the walls causing some dirt to fall down on their heads.

Avalon looked at Roe in surprise as the giggles settled in. His legs shook as the laugh took them over, leaving the two deer on the ground in a mess of blue fur and happy times.

“Hello? Are you okay?” a voice asked from beyond the trees. Roe moved towards the voice, her steps small and light.

“I’m fine. Who are you? My name is Roe” she whispered. A gentle breeze carrying her words away.

A creature with Lapis eyes turned and bolted back deeper into the forest. Roe gasped and gave chase. Her eyes darting around searching for the creature.
