–––––––– @tyranusss ( i don’t suppose you’ll tell the truth, so i won’t ask it of you. )
it’s not often she’s face to face with ANYONE in the opposition who isn’t a droid or someone she used to be close to, before the war, but it’s even less often that she’s able to look into the eyes of the man who leads the confederacy. it’s interesting ––– in a way, they’re both fighting for the same thing. padmé’s been battling CORRUPTION in the senate since she was just a queen. while she’s a staunch defender of the republic itself, she knows that it isn’t without its flaws, knows that the separatist movement has MORE than a single leg to stand on in regards to their case. if a peaceful solution could have been reached, if war had not broken out, if this man in front of her had not tried to have her executed, once upon a time.....padmé doesn’t want to BELIEVE that she’d have sided with the confederacy. she wants to believe she would always stand with the republic, for better or for worse. it’s easy to think that in situations like this. but sometimes, sometimes....sometimes SHE WONDERS.
❝ count dooku, ❞ she starts, her hands clasped in front of her, her spine straight, her chin held high. in other circumstances, in another life, she might RESPECT this man. now, all she can muster up when she sees him is pure and utter DISDAIN. ❝ it’s a shame we’re not meeting under more PEACEFUL circumstances –––– senator bonteri always spoke so highly of you, and i cannot possibly fathom why. ❞
