A Type Primer by John Kane
Last year this book helped me out so much at university! If you're a beginner with typography and layout, and need a little clarification, or you just want to improve your knowledge on terminology then this really is an investment. It's a real easy read.
John Kane even created some online exercises to make sure that you actually learn whilst using the book http://www.atypeprimer.com/
I'm in the process of gathering research for a current project, and as usual, I'm taking advantage of my blog to try and gather a little more. Thank you to all those who usually respond :)
I've created two 5-10min (MAX) anonymous surveys. All you have to do is tick 'yes' or 'no' as to whether you understand what these typographical terms mean.
It would help if you practice within a relevant field, but if not, feel free to test your knowledge. I would really appreciate it! Thank you.
