The Typographic Circle is a non-profit organization run by volunteers that showcase a variety of type and typography related events including a series of diverse monthly lectures by well-known industry speakers, and the annual New York Type Directors Club exhibition.
They simply ask that their speakers design their own event’s posters. The latest poster was designed by speaker Craig Oldham. “Craig has won over 50 industry awards, written numerous articles, featured in and written books, and had his work shown on TV shows, in newspapers, magazines, and international exhibitions.”
His event, which happened April 2nd 2015 in London, talks about his book, The Democratic Lecture, was selected amongst the 50 best design books of that year.
Check out some other amazing posters done by famous designers in the past.

Designer Profile
What do you do here?
I design book covers for the US monographs.
How long have you worked for Macmillan?
I started doing work experience here in May 2012 picking up some US covers for about three days a week over the course of six weeks. I was also working at a design studio in Brighton for the other half of the week working primarily on digital stuff and environment designs.
There was a job available here a few months after and I jumped at the chance to apply. Working in a great team on really creative projects in publishing was everything I wanted.
What’s your background?
I left school not really knowing what I wanted to do and ended up studying media – one of the courses in media was publishing. From then on I knew I wanted to get into design and started working at a sign shop making vinyl signs. I went to uni where I studied graphic design and loved print – I used every project to create a book in some form or another.
What attracted you to working in publishing?
Everything from the smell and the feel of a book, to having something that will last forever. It will age with you and you will treasure.
Can you talk us through your typical workday?
Because I spend the majority of my time working with the US, the time difference means I spend the morning answering emails, responding to feedback and corrections from production and editorial and reading through briefs. Basically a mixture of asking, answering and researching for the day ahead. Then the rest of the day is designing and discussing lunch.
Who are your biggest inspirations?
I know this will sound like a cop-out, but the people that I’m most inspired by I sit next to everyday. They’re hugely talented, creative and knowledgeable.
What do you like to do outside of work?
At the moment I spend the majority of the time working on my house in Brighton, which we have been giving a renovation that takes up a lot of time. I like to attend designer talks at the Typographic Circle and the events at St. Brides. I’ve also been doing a bookbinding course with some people from work as well as making the most of the commute by reading lots on the train.
What’s been one of your highlights in your time working here?
Meeting everyone I work with in the New York office and having some really good face to face discussions. That and every time we get a box of books, it’s like Christmas!
Finally, what’s next?
A world of possibility!

Typographic Circle Supplements D&AD
For this years (2012) D&AD competition, I choose to complete the Editorial brief ; Design and create 3 supplements for the Typographic Circle's magazine 'Cicular'.
In a nut shell; choose 3 designers/groups/studios etc etc, create 3 supplements (that are in no way a pastiche of the selected designers/groups etc work) containing at least 4 double page spreads, and fit well with the magazine.
Since the main magazine (Circular) seems to contain a lot of imagery on typography from artists, I decided to go for a more academic sort of feel. Or in lamens terms, it contains more words.
Supplement 1: Anthony Burrill
Supplement 2: Studio8
Supplement 3: Magpie Studio
Just thought I'd share/show off :)
