The Memphis Typeface Article assignment I had for the typography course
Healing rather nicely.
jessica hische
For another one of my classes, I was given a small assignment on the designer and author Jessica Hische. The assignment required me to spend some time really digging through her website and examining her work. Jessica Hische is a author, as well as a lettering artist who is often commissioned for various design projects.
Overall, I think her work is extremely talented. In terms of design, her website is inviting, organized and fairly easy to navigate. Despite this, I don’t connect to her work as much as I would like to. Her personal style uses a number of bright colors, curves and small motifs. Many of her designs reminded me of calligraphy or an old-style printing press type font. While her lettering was aesthetically pleasing, I would have personally liked to see something slightly less busy or minimalistic.
