hey i obviously can't know how bad it is or make any promises but at the eclipse a couple years ago i had the same thing happen, and my eyes were fine after a couple days. it's almost definitely only temporary, especially if you were wearing the glasses.

also i am someone w/ a degenerative eye condition so i very much know how scary it can be to realize you can't see as good as before. so for what it's worth even if it was permanent damage (highly highly unlikely) i can promise you that adapting wouldn't actually result in much of a QoL decrease. the brain is good at making optical signals coherent even if there's issues, it just needs a minute to adapt. it'll be okay. but again this is worst case scenario im talking about and most likely you're fine and will be okay in like two days.

okay thank you. guh this is so scary, why do people do this and why *don't* they warn you about it,,,

the brain being good at making sense of optical signals is what scares me so much. like rather than knowing for sure i have to guess if my brain is papering over a spot with issues or not. the lack of certainty freaks me out and makes me second-guess every little inconsistency.. :(
