Ruggie - It would be really funny doing eye fixation inductions with him. Classic following on a coin on a string he would be so locked in. He's so cute!! Vil - Rook taking Vil down in trance, making him super super sensitive, then bringing him up and giving him a makeover! Vil Cannot stop twitching and giggling from the makeup brushes. Cannot sit still through a mani-pedi. Rook is just swimming in all his sounds and movements + he gets to touch all over that beautiful body! Hypnofreak Rook fans where are we?

Kalim - kaLEEm strikes again. He loves being tickled he does not care how. Finds realistic hypnosis fascinating. And then he laughs himself silly. He likes having his head empty to just fully enjoy it without feeling homesick.

Idia - this dude. shaking my head. listens to hypno tickle files (which i recently learned were a thing.) wants them to work sooo bad but he can only ever get a few pity giggles out of it. Inventor extraordinaire. Makes his own tickle machines, visors, programs, etc. He's such a looser. Just like me fr.

Ace - tsk tsk tsk ☝️ my guy loves to deny. "No, I'm not ticklish!" "(real)hypnosis? what a bunch of hoopla!" Confident FOOL! No one is falling for it bro 😭 Even an inexperienced hypnotist like Deuce could get him under. Everyone makes fun of him for weeeks after.

Jamil's UM is the fantasy kind: it works on unwilling subjects, he has complete control over the subjects mind and body, subject loses all agency, it's immediately triggered by eye contact, glowing red eyes, etc.

Yes! Hypnosis (both real and fantasy) can be used to create imaginary sensations with the subject. You could have them experience temperatures, tastes, sounds, physical stimuli (like tickling,) and much more! You can also do fun things like restraining, increasing sensitivity, and removing inhibitions to let someone laugh freely.

So I think you're asking who is most susceptible to hypnosis, which can then turn into tickling after?? I hope??

Jamil is one of the most powerful mages in the entire school. Everyone is susceptible to his UM. The only work around is counter spells (like Floyd's UM) and not making eye contact with him at all. So I am going to switch over to who might be susceptible to the real kind.

Again, real hypnosis is just guiding the natural trance states we all enter every day. All of these characters experience trance, this is just who would be susceptible to techniques to control/forcefully enter it. This can also depend on their level of trust with the hypnotist and the method of induction used.

Riddle - I feel like a structured or confusion induction would drop him so fast. Give him a bunch of rules on breathing, focusing, etc. He'll follow them so well he won't even realize anything is happening. He would really benefit from hypnotherapy for his OCD. He'd have trouble getting his thoughts to shut up completely, but it would definitely help.

Jack - the only mental wall this guy has up is "i have to look cool" and he can barely keep it up even when he's fully awake. He also is not very well aware of his body most of the time (ex noticing his tail is wagging.) One hand drop induction and he's toast. Very easy to trigger train.

Kalim - He was already very susceptible to the fantasy kind. While some other characters showed resistance when faced with Jamil's UM, Kalim went under instantly. (However this could also be a factor of conditoning or subjects magic level.) Super prone to the real kind too tho. Show him something shiny and tell him he's gradually relaxing and he will agree with you till the cows come home.

Idia - loves it. has a hypnosis blog, listens to hypnosis files, enthusiastically gives in. we already know he overthinks and turns to escapism, whats better than relaxing and letting go of those annoying thoughts for a little bit? And sometimes he likes the freaky kind too

This one is another case of comparing real and fantasy hypnosis! Maybe I should make a post with all the info on them that i can link back to 🤔 (I really wish there were different names to differentiate the two.)

Real hypnosis can work on anyone! Meditation and self-hypnosis are actually the same thing! I think Jamil would definitely be very resistant to the real thing and would be able to recognize if someone is trying to hypnotize him, therefore not letting it work. But it is possible by either himself or with a trusted hypnotist. (I like to imagine the overblotees doing group meditation together or something like that)

I think your ask is directed at the fantasy type though! We don't really see that many mind controlling spells in twst. Azul mentioned only powerful mages can pull it off and they're exceptionally rare. I can imagine Jamil being better at resisting that type of magic but I wouldn't say he's immune. I do love the idea of him being charmed by a sound/music based spell though. Not so much for "snake charming"* resaons, but because he loves music already and can loose himself in it. I might turn that idea into a little drabble! It's really cute.

Another quick thing i want to mention:

TWST fandom does not talk about it enough, but Disney is and has always been a very racist company. Aladdin is an orientalist, inaccurate, and offensive movie. I really like this video & this video from an Arab YouTuber breaking down all the stereotypes and cultural inaccuracies, while still praising the good parts! Scarabia and the Scalding Sands also suffer from these problems.

While snake charming is a real and cultural practice in many countries, it is not a typical Arabian practice. It is important to note there is a heavy amount of misinformation about the topic, much of it stemming from orientalist views and normal people not knowing anything about animals. to quote the snake charming Wikipedia Page,

"the snake is usually sluggish due to starvation or dehydration and reluctant to attack anyway. More drastic means of protection include removing the reptile's fangs or venom glands, drugging the snake,[5]: 251  or even sewing the snake's mouth shut.[6]"

I care deeply about animal welfare. Snakes especially have been an interest of mine for a very long time. However to me, culture always ends where human rights + animal welfare begin. It is important to note you cannot "hypnotize" ANY animal besides a human. Our brains are very different. Some animals can enter "tonic imobility" or other similar mental responses to external stimuli. But guided relaxation and hypnosis require an understanding of language and awareness of thought that only humans have.

Snakes in this practice are not "tranced", they are not in in tonic imobility, and not in any other state. I could go on and on and on about venomous snake intelligence, behavior, and how they actually want to reserve the limited venom they may have at any given time.

All of this loops back to Jamil's UM and your ask. I love his Snake Whisper, but it's very important to know what is real vs what is fantasy in these contexts. (Which Diseny should also be doing smh..)
