I like to believe the Sleepwear series reveals the boys’ sleeping habits in some way. For example, Epel and Idia snuggling a pillow, Jamil and Jade sleeping sideways, Malleus struggling with his horns (poor boi…)

Speaking of Malleus—fun fact: I have a doodle-spread WIP of horn-related challenges for him, like trying to wear a hat or sleep comfortably. The image of him face-planted into his pillow then raising his chin all huffy is too cute to pass up!!!

As to my favorite boys…

…Floyd sleeps spread like a starfish, just limbs everywhere, taking up the whole bed, no matter how big or small the bed is, he's taking up all of the space, which means if you're gonna sleep beside him, your only option is on top. Also he snores. And bites.

…In contrast to Jade, who sleeps like he's in a coffin. I mean, he stands straight as a rod on a regular basis already, so I wonder if he sleeps the same way. I do wonder what the twins’ sleeping habits were like under the sea…do they curl their body around the corals or do they let themselves drift with the current and just wake up wherever? One fanart I found has their lil elver tails tangled so they’ll always wake up together 🥺🥺

…As for our dearest Rook, I do think that he sleeps in a straight line, but not coffin style, military style. Although similar in theory, the difference is positioning—hands clasped over his chest, legs crossed at the ankles and cap over his eyes (outdoors), like these military gentlemen—

—I bet he could nap on a tree branch like that in his PE uniform (even got matching boots!!).

It suits him well because we do know a few things about Rook:

In one of his birthday stories, he mentioned that if he was stranded on an island, he would want Silver with him, who doesn't struggle with sleep in new locations. Rook isn't (usually) fussy about sleep but he does worry about others’ comfort 🥺

Rook can sleep on any terrain. We know that he moved often, perhaps well-traveled—(or we will know this when his sleepwear vignette comes out in English)—and so I imagine he got used to sleeping in unfamiliar territory.

He's a light sleeper. Do we know that? I remember reading somewhere that he's a light sleeper, so the smallest things are going to wake him up and he goes to sleep relatively quickly. I want to believe that he takes up the least amount of space needed.

So all in all, seeing Rook relaxed in deep slumber would be a rare treat indeed 🥹 having such keen senses makes it hard to block out all the big and little noises of nature. (would he try sensory deprivation with a partner hmmmm…)

Out of curiosity! The anime must’ve brought in lots of new fans. There’s a lot to dig into when you join the game, and it’s easy to feel “behind”. If that’s you, then this is your permission to enjoy the story at your own pace! So let’s celebrate together where you’re at rn 🥳
