once upon a time, there lived a childless baker .. and his wife.

but that’s another story. 

back to the baker and his wife - their cafe often smells of freshly baked goods every day, and every fable is welcome to their bakery.  it’s been a long time since they’ve passed through to the mundy world through exodus, and they’ve been faithful to their roots from way back when they were villagers in prince charming and cinderella’s kingdom.  this year, on SAMHAIN - known to many mundy children as halloween - they too, decide to celebrate the festival of souls with creepy treats for everyone to enjoy.

you thought it would be a cute cafe story, didn’t you? you thought wrong.  after all, it’s not fabletown unless there’s a little trouble involved.

the thing is, this poor, childless baker managed to make a very powerful witch very disappointed - but again, that’s another story.  and what better way to get him back than to take a stab at his business? after all, it’s obvious that the baker and his wife both work tirelessly already and with their own little samhain sale, they’ll surely want to make sure they make enough creepy goods to satisfy both the living and the dead.  that’s what samhain is about, isn’t it? 

the witch knows there’s no real way to stop people from coming into the bakery ... except by spiking the food with just a little spell.  anyone who buys a treat from the samhain bake sale will be in for more scares than they asked for.

she’ll have her revenge yet.

OOC GUIDELINES    welcome to the wolf’s very first event! 🎃👻 for those of you who don’t know, samhain is an old gaelic festival that marked the beginning of winter and end of the harvest.  as time passed and history changed course, it became intermingled with what we know as halloween today.  wiccans and neopagans still celebrate samhain; to be clear, this event is very loosely mentioning wiccan practices as it talks about the passing of souls.

the tag for this event is #twspellbound.  if you’re interested in participating, like this post and you’ll get a prompt from the main telling you how your muse will be acting while under the witch’s spell.  think of it like a magic anon - depending on what you bought, your muse will have consumed a different enchanted treat! the effect will last until your muse manages to find their own antidote which will also come included in your message.  if you would prefer not to receive a prompt, don’t like this - you’re free to write threads about the goings on with other muses, though.

Beast needed a witch. It was extremely important in this moment, considering he could rightfully be described as a beast by just about anyone and he would have no grounds to argue given he had two horns sticking out of his head. As if he didn’t need to deal with this enough when his emotions end up getting the better of him. The worst part about it was that he had no control whatsoever over this. It’s not like he can easily control his emotions, either, but this is different. Even when he’s calm, there’s no getting rid of them. Perhaps stopping at that bakery was a bit of a bad idea, though he never could have predicted this outcome. He just had a craving, not a desire to be shot back in time by many centuries.

So, he found himself with a beanie pulled over his head, then a hoodie on top of that. His pace was fast so that people wouldn’t be able to stare at him long enough, though his fear was slightly irrational. If someone notices his hat protruding, the chances are that they wouldn’t just assume he had grown a set of horns. They would likely think he was wearing something on his head, like something weird or maybe even fashionable, he wasn’t sure. There was too much to keep up with and he simply didn’t have the patience. Constantly, his mind was flooded with other things.

    he usually didn’t like sugary treats. however, the shop was very popular and was getting a lot of traction. he was curious and he was just going to look around. the treats were cute in design. something he wouldn’t pick unless he was forced.

    the treat was pushed into his grasp without him even asking for it. he wanted to refuse, but the look he was given was earnest. it would be rude to say no. so he accepted the treat and left the shop. 

    when he returned home, greeting galahad. he made his way over to the counter, setting the small box down. he took the box in his hands and opened the box. he eyed the little treat in interest. it was just a brownie with a marshmallow ghost on it. he felt like his teeth were going to rot just by looking at it.

     he decided to push away his preconceived notion. it wasn’t going to kill him to eat it. he’d at least try it. it was a gift after all. if it was okay, maybe he’d go back.

      taking a bite was simple enough. it wasn’t awful. sweet, just like he expected. he didn’t plan on finishing it.

     he pushed the treat away and went to the bathroom to take a shower. he pulled off his shirt. as he was going to pull off his pants, his eyes noticed something or the lack of something.

     where were his feet?

      this was strange. he pulled off his pants and slowly, he noticed it wasn’t just feet missing. slowly, it was moving up his legs and then his knees were gone. they were there, but invisible.

     naturally, panic started to ensue. his body was turning invisible. he backed away from the mirror, reaching down. his legs were still there. and it kept going up and up and soon it was up his arms. he was shaking by then. 

     his eyes focused on his reflection in the mirror. when he was forced to become a part of fabletown after centuries of hiding away like a hermit, he only wanted to be invisible, just not so literally. he didn’t want people to look at him with disdain or curiosity. he just wanted to move on with his life. 

    as the invisibility started to crawl up his neck, he sighed. maybe this was what he deserved.

the small apartment is quiet and peaceful as always, nothing out of the order in the neatly organized living room. the kitchenette is quiet as well, the stainless steel spotless and dishes put away carefully. the bedroom... on the other hand has seen better days, the covers of the bed flipped inside out, slippers tossed haphazardly around the room and hoseok--

hoseok is having ( more than ) a bit of a manic breakdown.

he’s staring at himself in the mirror, or more accurately-- at the sharpened incisors of his canines, though small, they looked wickedly sharp. it had started a few days ago, he’d thought it was a dream, that he’d sleep and wake up and it would go away. but here he is, eyes are wide in disbelief, one hand slowly, shakily reaching up to rub his thumb over the teeth-- wincing at a sharp sting and staring incredulously at the bead of blood that appears on his thumb.

a squeak of fright is heard before he’s washing his thumb off in the sink and slapping a bandaid over it. and then he’s pacing back and forth in his living room, arms behind his back, muttering to himself and if he’d been more aware he would realize he quite resembled rabbit at the moment and that’s almost never a good thing. he only stops when a sharp pain stabs at his stomach and makes him aware of an unbearable heat in his throat, crawling up. and he rushes to the kitchen, looking in dismay at his old, empty water filter-- knows the ancient thing would take ages to fill up-- he really does need a new one.

slipping on his favorite purple hoodie, he takes to the streets, determined to make straight for the grocery store, grab a large pack of water or maybe a new water filter altogether, and go straight home. his mouth is clamped tightly shut as he looks around himself every two seconds-- paranoid. he’s dead set on his task and his task only, and yelps as he collides into someone after turning the corner of a building to take his shortcut. he stumbles back a bit, hands flying out and gripping the obstacle’s shoulders. “i’m sorry--” he blurts, lips barely moving.

his tense shoulders sag when he realizes it’s someone he knows, a soft sigh escaping in relief. “oh-- it’s you, yoongi. i’m sorr--” but he stops mid-sentence, not of his own will-- but because his eardrums are suddenly filled with the sound of a rhythmic thumping, and a slushing sound-- and hoseok realizes in horror what it is exactly. and like this, his normally gloomy but calm demeanor is replaced with a panicked chaos-- eyes wide and frightened, cheeks rosy with something he can’t explain even though his face feels terribly hot. his lips are parted in shock, the tips of his small fangs peeking through clear as day.
