i’m really not trying to be mean and i understand that people get defensive when they feel like someone is attacked something that’s important to them, but when “progressive” christians are confronted with the realities of the harm the majority of christianity has caused (and is continuing to cause), it would be fantastic if they wouldn’t assume that 99% of their fellow believers are kind, socially conscious leftists. claims like “christians who are bigoted aren’t really christians” are ignorant, unhelpful, and frankly ludicrous. people are going to be upset and angry because they have every reason to be and jumping down the throats of people who have been abused and ignoring reality is helpful to no one, christian or otherwise.
