Toa Tuyet
As portrayed by The Portrait of Dorian Grey.
Source
Creator: VelociJACKtor
Finally got some personal art actually done?? Anyways yeah, it’s Kyral x Tuyet o’clock @startrek-eridani
Tuyet (She/They)
(Redesign/prime universe design)
So like, there's one thing about how I'm approaching Tuyet and Hahli and the Abyss element
Is like, nobody wants to think bad of her, right? She was a friend and trusted companion to the other members of her team, she did a lot of genuinely heroic things before going down a dark path, so clearly there must be something more to it.
Maybe it's an intrinsic property of the Abyss element, Matoran are fine but a Toa, with full access to that elemental power, one that's long been suspected to have ties to some sort of eldritch dream entity? That must be what caused it, she was driven mad by her own power and that's why she could suddenly turn around and do all these terrible things. Clearly.
So as long as we don't let any more Abyss Matoran become Toa, it'll be fine, we can prevent further tragedies and spare those Matoran the terrible fate of losing themselves. It's for their own good.
And then later, Nidhiki goes and gets himself turned into a spider and also tries to backstab the others, but for better or worse he's just way less competent than Tuyet was so his actual level of damage is significantly less, and also the whole event was so understated by comparison that nobody's even sure if the spiderfication or the betrayal came first. (It was the betrayal, but again, most don't want to think badly of a Toa, so the spider-ing is an easy thing to point to as a cause. He always was afraid of arachnids, being transformed into one must have shattered his mind.) Thus, at least Vacuum gets spared the same kind of scrutiny that Abyss recieved.
And so that's the popular common sense going forward. Matoran of Abyss should never ever become Toa, it's doomed to failure and tragedy.
And Hahli, she agrees with this. Circumstances align to force Nokama's Toa Stone into her hands, and she still does everything she can to avoid it, tries to give it away to a trustworthy Ga or Ce Matoran, tries to throw it into the sea, tries to destroy it in a fit of desperation, terrified of becoming like Tuyet. But the Red Star has decided she of all people is the exact right person for the job, and in the end she's forced into a do-or-die situation that leaves her no other option but to take on the Toa Stone's power.
(And the whole team turns out to be such an existentially cursed lineup anyway. Nuparu and Hewkii turn out to be elements of each others' tribe, prompting an identity crisis and questions of tribal loyalty. The power lineage of Voriki is split in half, Vakama's Toa Stone transforming both Takua the chronic troublemaker and Ahkmou the chronic scammer into the first ever Toa of their respective elements. Matoro has an immoral mask! Literally the only non-problematic members of the team are Jaller and Kongu, and people are probably wondering if the other shoe will drop with either or both of them, too. And of course, oh shit, we have another Toa of Abyss. Fuck.)
And... she's fine. She doesn't go mad, she doesn't start turning into an authoritarian or trying to murder Matoran for power. She does get a little scary, sure, as she gradually becomes more comfortable in her power, earns herself the nickname of Barbarian, but still she refuses to cross certain lines, even as she and her team are pushed up against them harder than most past Toa. At first she tries doing the same as Jaller, looking to past Toa of her tribe, Helryx, Naho, Gaaki, Nokama, for mistakes to avoid and good examples to follow, but gradually she stops fretting and overthinking so much and just does what feels natural, what feels right in the moment. And... she's fine.
And now everyone is left having to contend with the idea that maybe it wasn't the element at fault, and Tuyet remained entirely, disturbingly sane the whole time. That her descent into fascism was actually kind of a logical extreme progression of her behavior before, she was a hero of wartime after all. As awful as it is to consider, there was no special eldritch mindfuckery going on; she wasn't just Like That inherently... she just got radicalized the same way anyone could be.

FAVORITE Toa Of Water In Bionicle?
Gaaki
Tuyet
Nokama
Gali
Hahli
Alternate Poll Question: “BEST Girl Of Bionicle?”
I kind of want to make Toa Tuyet and Toa Helryx a couple. I dont know how compatible that is with the lore, but I could see both of them having a semi toxic relationship.
Toa Helryx:
and toa tuyet:
This one is by TEOFT on Newgrounds.
But idk how toxic it would be but it would be sapphic the challenge would humanizing them but its actually decently easy to humanize bionicles.
Was thinking about Tuyet a little bit, had me thinking of some headcanons, kinda
Stuff like how she tries to keep the Matoran at a distance and stays "professional" with the other Toa, but still winds up sharing tales of where she came from with the Ga-Matoran and treats Nokama like a little sister
She's unintentionally funny, either saying the dry thing everyone's thinking or seeing Lhikan is carrying Vakama and there's a small passage the Toa can't get into, so, "Come here, little one. In you go"
She balances out Lhikan; he's compassionate, she's ruthless. She does understand why he is, but she thinks about surviving more
With Takua being assigned to make sure she's resting and taking care of herself, based off the linked post, the two wind up in a love-hate relationship. She needs him to sleep properly because she hates feeling alone, and she wakes him up to go to work. She calls him out on giving tours when he should be working, but he just leads them more behind her back. They've wandered along the Ga-Metru canal and found shells to hang on Tuyet's ceiling. They've gotten into biting matches; Tuyet uses air jail on him from time to time, he bit her arm, so she bit his shoulder
Just wondering, how would you guys feel about chaotic sibling energy that is Takua and Tuyet?
