hello , if you don't mind me asking how did you color ur header ? the one u used for the neighbor toji, how did you blend colors like that? :)
hi there! i don't mind you asking (๑´`๑)♡ i dont plan on gatekeeping how i do my headers/pngs lol
today's lesson : how to make ur shit look cute
— result example:
depending on what im tryna make ill use different apps but for what ur asking, i used these ↓ two for my neighbor toji header.
phonto : for adding text to images + my source for plain/colored images
pixlr : photo editing app aka my holy grail. so easy to use, your pet fish could do it
open pixlr, then choose a pic. make sure its greyscaled like the one im choosing below. if theres a particular image u like but its in color, u can use pixlr to add a black and white filter over it. (depending on the color depth, the results may vary)
have your overlay ready. you can make one on phonto.
i dont need to explain the rest cause i already made an explanatory graphic for it down below ↓
if you'd like, you can edit the contrast, brightness etc, on the adjustment option !

So a lot of people have been asking how I do the image editing for Tonks’ Hair, so here’s my little Tutorial!
(finished product!)
1) Start with the same way you’d make a gif. Here’s mine:
the fewer frames, the easier it’s going to be for you. Mine is 36 frames.
I start with my silver wig so I can add any color to it (also because it’s the only one I have so far *whoops*)
2) Open it in photoshop
each frame will become it’s own layer. Open timeline on the bottom to make it a gif too.
3) Open a new layer and set it above the first frame:
this new layer will be for your hair color
4) Paint all of your hair your base color (unless you already have a fancy color wig you’re using as your base)
5) mess around with the filter and opacity until it looks how you want it.
This has been a pretty successful combination for me, but depending on lighting and your desired color, it’ll differ
6) duplicate the hair color layer. Then merge the original hair color layer with the first frame.
7) repeat step 6 frame by frame until either your head moves or you want to start adding color
8) begin adding in your color
Start the color at the roots with a full opacity. Hair color grows from the roots, and the same goes for Tonks’ color changes!
(I’m putting it back to normal filter and 100% opacity for easier viewing)
9) on the next frames, let it dissolve out with a lower opacity brush
(without filters)
(with filters)
10) keep dissolving it out
11) when your head moves, adjust your hair color accordingly
it’s important to keep the creases in your hair lined up as you move it out, as well as keeping the outline lined up
make sure to keep checking the lines. this is easiest on a normal filter, but always switch back to “soft light” (or whatever filter you chose) after each adjustment and merging
12) once you have all your frames edited, make sure your timeline below is lined up frame by frame (frame 12 should view layer 12, frame 18=layer 18, etc…)
If you hit the play button, you’ll get to see all your hard work pay off!

Textures are neat way to add extra punch on your artworks. They're fun to create yourself or you can use endless resources various artists here in dA are providing. If you're using textures made by...
Hi there, anon! I decided a visual of this might be most helpful to you, so here we are. nwn Just bc I’m a Stern Photoshop Mom, I’ll say here, quickly: I think you should be learning how to make your own PSDs and whatnot, so that you understand how they work. But, I know they can be a big help in terms of speed/convenience, so I’ll let you off with just a warning... For now. ;)
Here are the steps, same as in the gifs, but with a few extra notes!
How to apply a PSD:
Open the image and the PSD you want to use!
Display your image and your PSD side-by-side by going to Window > Arrange > 2-Up Vertical! The reason for this is because they need to be side-by-side for the drag and drop to work. 2-Up Vertical is the most convenient way that I know of, although there are other ways to do it.
Crop your icon, which you should have done before you started the tutorial, Rabbit, ya dingus...
Drag and drop your coloring layers from your PSD to your icon! If you’re dealing with a PSD-maker who knows what they’re doing, they should all be in a group (with the little folder icon, like in the gif) and easy to move over. If they’re not, they’ll probably be a bunch of color layers and adjustment layers (e.g. Curves layers, Selective Coloring layers, etc.), and those can be dragged-and-dropped as well.
Bonus! How to get your texture and your graphic in the same place:
Go to the location of your texture on your computer!
Drag and drop it into Photoshop! This will “place” it into your document, automatically giving it a transform box. You can just hit Enter and the transform box will go away, if you’re not comfortable using it.
Do stuff’n’things with your texture, since now it’s in your document!
As to the other part of your question! Doing stuff like deleting layers and such in Photoshop is very basic stuff--just a matter of clicking buttons--and you can learn how to use Photoshop in this basic way in many places on the internet. Here is a “new to Photoshop” link list which I previously compiled for another anon, which might be helpful for you there!
I hope this was helpful! As always, please let me know if there’s anything I can clarify or anything else I can do for you!
