Yesterday’s Seed Keeping workshop at Roughwood Seed Collection. I’ve known Wajeedah (bottom right) and her brother Fareed (not present) for over a decade since they were young teenagers who came through the Just Food Training of Trainers. Their father (McKinley Hightower-Beyah, RIP) was an early mentor and friend to me, and the whole family specializes in teaching others to save seeds and grow food, based in their gardens in Queens, NY. So grateful to have the opportunity to share what I’ve learned with Wajeedah and everyone else who made the trip out to the collection on this beautiful day.
