so this is the giant missingno monolith that starry built who would eventually become NaN. this is what i was flirting with before she became a fully realized character btw.

before we had the lore all figured out for sparks/NaN in this universe i actually built a (not-so) secret underground church to worship missingno. in my mind i wanted to start a missingno cult but i ended up being the only member lmao

on the eastern side of the church there were these fountains and sand to mimic cinnabar's coast. there were hidden hoppers in the sand so you could throw offerings into the water.

the skeleton of the drunk old man who teaches you how to catch pokemon. (you can see a very tiny pokeball on the floor.) there's also bad eggs littered around too.

i also wrote a bible for her. here's the full text:

Legend speaks of a great and terrible beast that swam beneath the coast of an urban ocean town. Its name is [OBFUSCATED]. Once, you were able to speak to a certain old man in order to encounter it. That old man is now dead, and the rules of his world no longer apply. We are now here to carry on his legacy, and grant others the ability to find it if they are deemed worthy. But to those who seek it, be warned: Unlimited power always comes at a cost. You must sacrifice a cherished memory to receive Her power. You cannot decide which one you lose. It will be decided by Her, at the very instant She finds you. You need only pay this fee once, then Her power will be yours forever. We leave Her our riches and our sugary sweets. We leave her bones and souls to add on to her ever-shifting mass. All in hopes of being bestowed Her blessing. But this alone is not enough to make Her appear. 1) Enter a battle with another player. 2) Escape before they can engage you. 3) Swim in Wisteria Town's coastal waters. 4) Drown yourself in their depths. Let Her fill your lungs. Let Her become part of you. Only then will her physical form become visible to you.

NaN herself would later revise the bible, explaining her gimmick on the server:

IS WHAT I WILL RETURN IN NEW ABUNDANCE BE IT GREAT OR SMALL! I WILL DUPLICATE IT BY 128 OR. HOWEVER MUCH I CAN MANAGE IN THIS REALITY, AT LEAST! AND WHEN WE MEET IT IS YOUR CHOICE FROM THERE. essentially she could duplicate the 6th item of your offerings, multiplying it by 128.

she demonstrated this in probably the funniest way possible: i had given her half a stack of lavender flowers in the 6th slot of my offering and she gave me a whopping 4096 in return.

(she gave me thousands of flowers, chat. that's how you know we're in love)

for lore-related reasons, NaN initially wasn't able to leave the coast of wisteria town to see the church in person. since she couldn't collect her offerings there, i decided to build a new altar for her on the beach! (it has a framed photo of her there)

and it was eventually where we had our wedding!
