Tumblr Lingo
A helpful guide to Tumblr slang for people who are as confused as I was. I have been studying this strange new language for the past several days and I think I've come up with a comprehensive glossary. Ship: When you want to put two characters alone on a ship so they will make out. Cannon: The cannons on the ship, I think it's used to symbolize how your ship is better or something, if it has more cannons or "is cannon." Headcannon: When somebody's mind (ergo "head") is "cannon" (see above.) AU: The sound you make when a cannon is dropped on your foot.
OTP: Oh Tumblr Pirates; people who sink and plunder ships. BroTP: Bro Tumblr Pirates; a warning that they are coming. Homestuck: A fictional webcomic that doesn’t exist, but is constantly referred to as if it did, as a forced inside joke among younger Tumblr users. The subject of many “ships”. bae: something everyone needs to stop saying before i fucking leave this site again. What is Air: What you will be saying within five minutes of saying "bae" around me. I can't even: The meaning of this is, as of yet, unknown to me. I will research further.
