omg thank you for confirming people notice this, i just split a fic into two different ones because it was becoming Unruly and i had a feeling people were gonna be like “this has turned into Something Else Entirely”, a+

it’s not even that there’s anything wrong with fics that are long, as long as it’s one story/narrative. Some of my favorite fics are super long masterpieces. 

But the problem becomes when you get a fic where really it’s just the author sits down once a week, bangs out a chapter, and stumbles into some big convoluted thing somewhere in chapter 6. 

OR alternatively, where the author just doesn’t want to let the story end because they have an Audience, and they don’t want to let it go of that. 

fun fact: my brain did the thing for you that it does for me where once you’ve been ur age for 6 months or more it jusT ROUNDS UP. so i was like “omg she’s not 35 is she no i think i’m just stupid and she was only 33 for like 5 months”
