"Happy Birthday, Seijuurou." Midorima murmured awkwardly, his face flushed with embarrassment as he was not used to being so straightforward with birthday wishes. He took out a small, blue jewellery box from his pocket, and inside was a beautiful sterling silver ring embedded with tanzanites, zircons and turquoises, each said to give luck and protection to those who were born in December.
âOh... Shintarou? I wasnât expecting anyone to remember.â Seijuurou said in response, his honestly blunt in the face of the otherâs kind gesture. He gave a tiny smile, a slight quirk of his lips to soften the blow. âBut thank you, I appreciate the gesture.â
It was rare for his friend to be so open with his intentions, and even more rare for the other to use anything but his last name. Seijuurou figured that would be all and turned to look back down at his phone, when he noticed the other moving in the corner of his eye. They had agreed to meet someplace public today, at Shintarouâs behest, and Seijuurou had suggested Little Italy, since heâd been meaning to try it. Since they were waiting for their appetizers to be brought out, Seijuurou had decided to check his schedule for the rest of the day and tomorrow, not wanting to forget anything.
Shintarou was pulling something out of his pocket which was what caught the point guardâs eye, stilling his own movements. His friend then set the box down for him to take a look at, and with a lingering look of questioning sent Shintarouâs way, Seijuurou reached for the gift. A small box, coloured a lovely blue with clear evidence as to what might be inside. He was a little confused to say the least, wondering why his good friend felt the need to get him anything at all.Â
Inside the box was a beautiful ring. With blue gems and crystals, it was something regal and personal, and he could tell by the way Shintarou shuffled in his chair, it was something chosen with a great deal of thought put into it. Smiling easily this time, the business heir slipped the ring onto his finger easily. He wasted no time in admiring the jewelry, that stood out against his pale skin.
âIs this your way of proposing, Shintarou~?â Seijuurou couldnât help but tease his friend, seeing the other get so worked up over something like this. He stared expectantly, place his elbows on the table as he leaned forward, hands folded under his chin. The ring was displayed clearly, as if on purpose.Â
âIf so, I would hope you considered all the necessary adjustments we would both have to make to our schedules. And of course, the judgement we would face from our families respectively...â
He then gave a short laugh, indicating that he was indeed joking. Flashing a pure and grateful expression, Seijuurou spoke again, âforgive me, I was merely jesting. Thank you for the lovely gift, Shintarou.â
