Okay, it’s time. Let’s do this!

My name’s Sy, and I spent over a year working on a MCYT fantasy AU fanfiction. It was originally a SMPLive fic, and back in the height of that fandom, it was one of the most popular fics in the fandom, if not the most popular. In January, I was forced to finally abandon the project after 13 months of work and 128k words, due to yet another one of the CCs involved in it being revealed as problematic--but this time for something incredibly awful, and that was the final straw that broke the camel’s back.
For the last four months, since that day, I’ve been reworking the entire universe and story into a completely original fic. The original relationship dynamics and plot are closely preserved, but different enough that it’s not just a Minecraft fanfic with all the names changed. It’s something completely new.
And the best part? You can barely tell who all the characters were originally based on, but they all still have the energy that a MCYT fanfic has. This is content that feels like MCYT, but without any worries about the boundaries of real people. Maybe I’m a bit biased, as the author, but that’s the intention, and everybody who’s seen bits of it so far has really enjoyed it, so take that how you will!
The story follows three different protagonists from different backgrounds, all with their own family to find and trials to overcome. There’s Willum, the small-town boy with magic who just wants to mean something; Colt, the sultry younger brother of two overprotective older sisters who just wants to see the world and make some friends; and Kalahan, the grandson of a renowned asayan (fish-person) who just wants to escape his nightmares. Oh, and a man claiming to be the true heir to the throne of the human kingdom is attempting to murder the current king. There’s really something for everyone--found family, magic, romance, dramatic swordfights, mystery, adventure, way too much fire, angst, fluff, comedy... and there’s quite a bit of LGBT+ rep, too!
