Introducing Mordecai!

Perhaps the Lord of the area, he’s the one running the city itself after he overthrew the government and weak heroes that thought they could get in the way of his power trip. His beginnings are unknown by the masses, but there has to be someone to blame for his rage, right?

Introducing Elliot!

A villainess who rose to fame and hatred because of her lineage. She comes from a family of cannibals and is feared by many because of her potential to slaughter. However, she preferred to start at the bottom… But that eventually landed her in the hands of Mordecai himself.

Important things to note!

    In the beautiful city of Los Diablos, it was a place where many heroes and villains rose to fame and power ever since the beginning of its time. How did this come to be? What makes a hero a hero and a villain a villain? You may be asking… Well, I, your lovely unreliable narrator, am here to help!

    For the basics, everyone in the world is born with at least 1 ability. Of course, over time, people started developing 2 or more from the mixing of DNA of the different species and abilities people have. So usually, it’s more likely to have more than 1 ability. The more abilities one has, and how powerful they are, are what determine the ranking system.

    The ranking system goes from a scale of low-rank, mid-rank, high-rank, and top-rank. Top-rankers usually run certain areas of their given nation or state depending on where in the world they are, and oftentimes get cities or even states named after them. However, for low-rankers, they usually stick to regular day-to-day jobs and avoid the system at all costs.

    The government is broken. The people who were appointed usually were not top-ranks, which meant that any top-rank villain could easily take over the title and reign supreme, (for example, Mordecai in Los Diablos.) which is why there isn’t a specific law system any given area abides by. This causes a lot of chaos and destruction, but areas are usually kept up by high or top-rank heroes with the help of civilians (low-rankers).

    To rise to power, for heroes, one would have to first be born with powerful abilities, and secondly have to gain status and reputation. Heroes have a more civilized way of gaining reputation, but they also usually have to defeat a certain number of villains to cruise up the ranks. To surpass high-rank to get to top-rank, a hero would have to defeat a top-rank villain and reclaim the areas that villain had taken.

    However, for villains, to rise, you also have to be powerful, yes… but you have to also have a body count. Of murders, of course. The more heroes a villain kills and uses as trophies, the more feared they become, and the quicker they become high-rank. But to become a top-rank villain, it is more difficult than for the heroes. A high-rank would have to take control of the government of a certain area, often having to slaughter or fearmonger them into submission. Once a villain gets up there, there isn’t much that can stop them other than a high-rank hero that has enough courage.

    This is where Mordecai, or better known as The Creature or just Creature, comes into play. Originally, he wanted to be a hero in Los Angeles, but as he tried and tried, he was turned down by society for being a demon and intimidating. He was seen as unfit for the hero title, which eventually drove him to madness. Then, he went out of his way to push every other hero and villain out of his ways to become to topmost villain in Los Angeles, getting the city to be renamed to Los Diablos instead.

    He owns trophies he made himself or stole from the heroes he conquered, often leaving their blood to stain them as a symbol of his victory. So far, no high-ranking hero has tried to overthrow him. And within the time of his reign, he has created his own gothic fortress on the mountainous outskirts, creating his own sanctuary with his own hands and power. Whenever he goes toward the city itself, the crowds rush away from him or become paparazzi.

    This fact made it difficult to find a proper assistant, and after many failed to meet his standards and were left to bleed, he met Marina. A young villainess at the time, but she was pure of heart and also became a villain to spite society like Mordecai. He took her under his wing, and adjusted his fortress to accommodate them both, and ever since then, they named their duo The Sinners. 

    All this to say, there aren’t many who stand a chance. The only other villains that concern him are The Cosmos, who oppose him by rising the ranks faster than a normal villain would, nearing his own pace. He hasn’t gotten into a physical altercation with them yet, but he plans to take them down on his own time. Otherwise, his reign has been smooth sailing.

    Others aren’t so lucky. Especially a specific crime family… The Rose-Ivy syndicate. The family reached its downfall about 10 years before this story takes place. They were a lineage known for being ruthless cannibals that killed and ate anyone who got in their ways… And their youngest daughter, Elliot Rose-Ivy was meant to keep the secret of her lineage at her school, but she accidentally revealed it to someone she thought she could trust.

    From there, the mother, Esther Ivy was found and detained, put into solitary confinement for the rest of her life. And the oldest son, Liam, was killed in a battle against a hero who was then taken out by Elliot. The father, or the leader himself deteriorated, eventually becoming a husk of the powerful mid-rank he used to be, leaving Elliot with the weight of the entire syndicate on her shoulders.

    She hadn’t been seen in years until the recent days. And currently, she’s a low-rank villain in search of a team of her own. She has few options since she wants to rise the ranks quickly, but she eventually chose what she thought was the right choice… The Cosmos.
