Waking up on my last morning in San Francisco, I was craving a filling, yet balanced breakfast. Steel oats are sometimes hard to find, so I tend to seek out eggs and delicious bread for toast and since I am in California - avocado toast 🙃. Bien sûr! And in my searching, I came upon @pearl_6101 located on California St. and 23rd. The scrambled eggs - scrumptious and full of flavor and paired with a slice of what I believe was brioche. Then the avocado toast - yes, yes, yes. Pearl has only been open for one year, but it is quickly becoming loved by the locals and no doubt the tourists as well based on who stopped by while we dined. Let’s talk a moment about @tartinebakery ‘s croissants and pastry crust: the best I have found outside of France, specifically Paris. Hands down, and after an abundance of exploring and enjoying other bakeries in my own neighborhood in Bend that are quite good as well as well as Portland and beyond, @tartinemanufactory and @tartinemanufactory ‘s buttery, flaky crusts and infinite lovely croissant layers are delectable and a dream realized. The second photo shares a picture of their two quiches for the day - ham & corn and asparagus & corn. I picked up a slice of the ham for lunch later, and devoured it in minutes later in the day. Scrumptious. Truly scrumptious. Either location is a must-visit if you love and appreciate good food. Day Two, Delicious Dinner #2. @bouletteslarder in their Bouli Bar (the Boulette Larder dining room is open for breakfast and lunch which looks out onto the bay and Bay Bridge). These three pics capture our dessert and espresso, but the previous two courses as well were inspired (slow baked wild King salmon on a bed of millet dressed in a sparkling wine vinaigrette with opal basil, mint, snap beans and romano beans) seasonal, locally grown and beyond expectations delicious. For dessert: Pistachio Cake with Strawberry Ice Cream (1st pic), Lemon Vanilla Bavarian Poppyseed Cake with meringues, summer berries and makrut lime crème anglaise (2nd pic). Let’s talk a moment about @tartinebakery croissants and pastries: hands down the best buttery, flaky goodness I have found outside of France, especially and even Paris. Having enjoyed trying and exploring severaldifferent bakeries not only in my own town of Bend, but in Portland and wherever I might be traveling, while I have tasted deliciousness, @tartinebakery and @tartinemanufactory offer the most scrumptious quintessential pastry. The quiche crust for example, - seen in the second image - they were offering ham & corn as well as asparagus & corn for the day. I picked up a slice of ham for lunch later, and when I sat down to enjoy it, I devoured it. Oh my goodness, exquisitely delicious from top to side to bottom - every inch.
