Trummors + Prairiewolf - Lagniappe Session

The one complaint I had about the Trummors / Prairiewolf Cosmic Drifters southwest mini-tour that took place last spring was that we didn't have much time to jam! This brand-new Lagniappe Session for Aquarium Drunkard fixes that with two excellent covers — "The Cowboy Rides Away" by George Strait and Joni Mitchell's deathless classic "Both Sides Now." Every fairy tale comes real!

Trummors Dave Says: To record Anne’s vocals, we took a field trip to Jeremy from Prairiewolf’s lovely pad in Nederland, Colorado, right near the former site of the famous Caribou Ranch recording studio. (“The Taos to Nederland express train: the future liberals want,” as Jeremy put it.) While tracking, we were treated to a visitation from a family of moose. They were listening attentively at the window—one even made eye contact with Anne while she was singing, which we took as a good sign that the take was a keeper.

There have been a ton of great Lagniappe Sessions in recent months — Modern Nature doing the Beatles! Phi-Psonics doing Nick Drake! Jeffrey Alexander doing the Smiths! Aux Meadows doing Eno! Cameron Knowler doing Fahey! Silver Synthetic doing Lou Reed! And on and on ... hmmm, seems like it's time to put together another vinyl edition of these bad boys.

Hello Sunshine: A Tribute To Relatively Clean Rivers

A nice surprise last week — an action-packed, star-studded tribute to the legendary private press country-psych-folk-rock Relatively Clean Rivers LP, curated by the great Raven Sings The Blues website. Just one look at the contributing artists should be enough for you to hit the "buy" button — Rose City Band, Trummors, Garcia Peoples, Donovan Quinn, Bobby Lee, etc. And hey, all proceeds go to helping out artists affected by the LA wildfires. But beyond being just a good idea/good cause, Hello Sunshine is a genuinely great listen, loving but not overly reverent to the source material. Like the original, it'a a great vibe from start to finish.

Trummors + Prairiewolf Spring Tour 2025

One week from today! Prairiewolf will set out once again for a very brief spring tour. After last year's western jaunt, we're keeping things slightly closer to home this time around, hitting some choice Colorado mountain towns and then the center of the Land of Enchantment — Santa Fe, NM. Are there any Doom & Gloomies in any of these destinations?! I don't know, there must be. Come on out! For each one of these shows, we will be joined by the awesome Trummors, who will provide cosmic country rock sounds, awe-inspiring harmonies and impeccable vibes. What better way to spend a spring evening? Seems like we'll have some fresh-brewed, limited edition Prairiewolf coffee beans for you at the merch table, too. Since we mentioned Trummors' contribution to that Relatively Clean Rivers tribute yesterday, it's a good time to mention this — the Trummors + Prairiewolf mini-tour that is rapidly approaching this spring! New jams, old jams, joyful journeys, open roads.

First, we'll be hitting Salida, the beautiful "Heart of the Rockies"! The Velveteen is just steps from the Arkansas River — you could kayak to the show. Next, the San Luis Valley, home of the Great Sand Dunes National Park, the soaring Sangre de Cristo Mountains and the UFO Watchtower. I've yet to visit Crestone's Cloud Station, but I'm assured that it's properly freaky. And then! A Santa Fe blowout at El Rey Court to close it all out. Should you just get in your car and follow us for an unforgettable long weekend? Yeah, probably. But if you can't do that, stay tuned: there's a lot of Prairiewolf action on the horizon in 2025.
