I know long captions suck!!! But this is GOOD NEWS worth the read: Did you know @volcom has long been working hard to insure it uses an ethical clothing supply chain? It is one of the relatively few companies whose supply chain is actually accredited by the #FairLaborAssociation. But Volcom is not stopping there. It’s striving to build an even more transparent and traceable supply chain all the way from cotton seed to garment. Not only that, Volcom has joined forces with #CottonConnect to provide organic farming training, business training, and women’s empowerment programs for cotton farmers in rural India. By going organic, not only do the farmers live in a healthier local environment and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but they also decrease their costs by as much as 50% and double their harvest yields!!! This is huge for them and their communities. This program and the resulting garments is called #FarmToYarn. Of course, most of Volcom’s clothes are not made of organic cotton, but the plan is to keep growing this program and the amount of organic cotton in the clothing line over time. A commitment that is being spearheaded by @bigtonyalvarez and @derekasabori. Anyone who knows these two, will tell you that if either one of them is involved, corners will not be cut. Thank you, Big Tony. Thank you, Derek. Thank you, Volcom. Thank you, CottonConnect. And a special THANK YOU to the FARMERS. 🌏 Link in my profile to hear directly from the farmers, how this program is changing their lives. 🌎 camera: @nateperacinny 🌍 #TrulyAware #NewFurureAlliance https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs_BjxPHTFR/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=158anlefdf8ux
