Well, I'd say "mission - partially β accomplished".
Due to too rainy weather I decided not to get a bike today. Since the bikestore is right across the city, I would've been completely rain-drenched. Also the walk through the Tropenmuseum took hours! But it sure was worth it!
If you are in Amsterdam you should really consider to visit the museum. What was really amazing was the Exhibition "De Dood Leeft" / "Death Matters", designed by Amsterdam-based Exhibition-designbureau Kossmann.dejong. They did a real good job and showed the different stages of death in a very moody surrounding. It took me almost one and a half hour to walk through the curvy "rooms" they Kossmann.dejong created, and I still thought I was too fast. The exhibition remains until August 26th.
Well then I had a short break and continued my exploration around the globe. The whole permanent exhibition is quite a look worth it, but I think that you might need at least two days, to get the full experience. As I got my museumkaart already, and it already was hard to soak up all the bundled information, I decided to abort my visit and continue it another day. But, still raining outside, I decided to walk through the rest of the permanent exhibition, in the hope of better weather later this day.
Not a bit of it! Still raining when I got out the museum. So I hit home, made myself some dinner and let the evening pass with a glass of wine.Β
